Welcome to Day 148 :) Sorry if I've been preoccupied these last few days y'all .. I've been very busy and no time for anything .. especially me lol. Saturday was just hectic all day .. so when I went out to shoot for today .. of course nothing turned out .. so my examples are sub par .. but they are all I have.
Today we are going to attempt Night Photography. Minimum 1 second exposures. For these examples I tried to use shutter priority ..but ended up using manual settings... which is why the focus is off too ...I just don't see well at night...and auto focus wouldn't stop adjusting itself .. LOL.
So here are what I got .. such as they are ..I sure hope you have better luck than I did :)

It was worth staying up after doing my night shoot just to beat Bushido.... so here are my night shots... it was the first time i used my tripod in about 5 years... but i still knew how to set it up... the biggest problem was focusing... had to use manual... i let the camera do the exposures... i did have one problem on my first shot .. i set the camera up and couldn't see the subject so i just shot... and after a really long time the camera shut off.. but i couldn't see the image either... after two more try's i realized that the lens cap was on... so i left the area with no street lights and drove 15 miles to town... sorry if i post too many. you won't hear much from me today.. i'm really tired.

all you need is a little post processing.. i was amazed to find out how a wider open lens changed the density.. figuring that the exposure equals out...

I used Aperture priory. I just looked at my exposures. I shot between F:8 - f:16 and my shortest exposure was 30 seconds....i'm glad i used my tripod... LOL [quote=photogrl57]

You know normally I would do a 30 sec exposure too .. don't know why I chose to only do 1 or 2 I know better

These were taken unlike Loguey's with out the lens cap on. They were shot with a 4x5 camera on negative and transparency film then scanned to digitize them. Thanks Loguey for the scanner. The bridges were taken from a series being done on bridges in the Daytona Beach area and the B&W were part of a series titled "I walked the Line" in which I walked the railroad tracks for three months taking images in central Florida. All were 10 to 20 sec exposures and in some cases over a minute.

The boat would not stop rocking.

Normally when a photographer can not see what is in the camera the first thought would be remove the lens cap. If you had gone to bed and got some sleep you most likely would have remembered that rule. By the way great photos for an old man.

Good Morning! I won't have a chance to shoot night photos and I don't have many in my archives. One of my goals is to improve my 'low light' photography as well as night shots!

This is one of my rare night shots taken hand held. Our first cruise in March, 2011. We were pulling out of the San Juan port and our ship was dwarfed by this Celebrity ship! We could see a putting green on the top deck!
