There once was a place where competent photographers gave sound advice but that was before it was turned into nothing more than a farce.

Having successfully driven away all the knowledgeable and experienced serious photographers and digital imagery artists who, for a brief moment of time believed that here was indeed a section where with an emphasis on photography, one could explore art, learn techniques, and become better at our craft, the Section has finally been fully taken over by a rather patronizing and sanctimonious school Marm and Mother Hen known as Linda from Main.

By her very omnipresence, this omnipresent managed to bamboozle the small remaining membership into thinking that she has rather more than the rudimentary knowledge that she actually has, but she does, in fact, as much struggle to produce a decent snap as any of the others.

She presides over this group, the CLC, the Cozy Little Club, who fancy themselves as sufficiently and suitably qualified to critique the work of the blow-ins who occasionally visit to submit a picture for consideration either out of idle curiosity or more probably in a fit of unrealistic expectation to receive something, anything, in the form of a suggestion for improvement that might be of use.

Such visitors soon come to realize that as each and all of the regular group, that Cozy Little Club, themselves ask each other for help on an almost daily basis, theirs is very much a case of the blind leading the blind.

There is in the Section a policy requiring that respect be shown at all times or to suffer the pain of harsh and immediate retribution. This was introduced by the moderator to preclude personal attacks but with Ms. Marm now fully ensconced and calling all the shots she feels free and only too willing to apply the rule to anyone daring to make comment on the often ludicrous statements that she and her chosen few frequently come out with.

The best form of defense is attack as they say, so this rule requiring the show of respect only applies to those not embraced by the sanctity of membership to that Cozy Little Club.

Respect has, and undoubtedly will again at any time, and at the whim of said School Marm, be thrown out the window when it comes to directing personal attacks at all or any above-mentioned commentators; as was clearly demonstrated when she specifically recruited three notorious trolls to maul and taunt one such individual recently.

That appalling demonstration of cowardice included the foulest of vile name calling and unfolded over a large number of pages with the full blessing of the Section Moderator who deliberately sanctioned it to continue in full view for all to see for maximum impact and exposed the true underlying base nastiness that resides within that Cozy Little Club.

Make no mistake, lurking not far behind Ms. Marm's façade of welcomes and fawning is a dark and insecure remnant of what was once a promising and informative Section.

Let us not be too hasty here; perhaps winterrose has a point. However, I, too, would like more information about who, what, when, regarding the following comment made by winterrose:

If the volunteer officials of the "Cozy Little Club" are, in the absence of more experienced volunteers, doing their best, then I do not see that such comment from the OP or any other Hog is justified. There is nothing worse than negative comment without including encouraging and positive suggestions. In other words, put up or shut up.

It is interesting. This complaint has been made about other sections as well and it seems to be Winterrose bringing forth the complaint. This tells us it might be more of an issue with the complainer than with the moderators.

Hmmm...... as one who posts very infrequently in the FYC section- I have to say that I've never seen that. The few times I did post there I received great help to improve the photos I did post. It sounds to me like a personal vendetta. I'd be interested in seeing a link provided to the offensive thread in order to see for myself.

Winterrose saw the title of mcveed's thread and mistakenly thought his
inquiry was about the FYC section!!!!!
He then went offline and unable to receive my reply to him!!!!
He does have other interests in life so may not click into the computer
for days!
And such was the case when someone ELSE also made a mistake, as
winterrose posted a picture and was then called out of town because
of a death in the family, but came back days later to find he was shut out
of the forum by someone else's hasty misinterpretation.

If that wasn't enough, he later posted an innocent picture of some colorful leaves, with
the title "Leaves", misinterpreted by the same individual, and woke up
next morning to find it had totally disappeared and he was again seriously
shut out, and I along with him for having contributed a response to his topic!!!!

Interestingly, coincidentally, quite recently, Linda from Maine recently also posted
a nice picture of colorful leaves with the same title,"Leaves", but she didn't suffer
for it of course as no one was out to make trouble for her. However, in Sept.,
there was an unfortunate misunderstanding between her and winterrose, all of
which may have contributed to the error resulting in this topic today.

Let's remember folks, EVERYONE falls into an error now and then.
I hope when he comes back that winterrose will be able to forgive himself, for he
thrives on being accurate in the good advice he is able to dispense re. photography,
Remember that you, whoever you may be, and hasty as you may be to condemn, may
one day find yourself faced with this following t***h:
Would YOU be able to laugh if you made a mistake??

Interesting you should say that about someone else because that thought crossed my mind when you said you found WR's thread about creating a landscape from bits and pieces "fascinating." Instead of enabling him by calling those that saw through that sham as "h**ers" you should have been warning him about the possibility of a lengthy suspension. One self-proclaimed "expert" actually thought it was a "tutorial." And another who claims to be an engineer was also taken in. Why do you think WR got suspended? Certainly not because someone called him by other than his user name. How about some comments on this new "recruitment" claim.
