Hi Again!! Absolutely!! My favorite pianist, along with Bud Powell, Bill Evans & Keith Jarrett. You included so many of my favorite recordings of Oscar. I've attached my favorite, "I Remember Clifford", written for the young amazing trumpeter, Clifford Brown who was killed in a car accident at the tender age of 24. Oscar, moves freely from 4/4 to upbeat 2 and back in this amazing recording. I've probably played it 1000 times and never tire. We should consider talking to ADMIN about creating Jazz section on UHH. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUAXefADT8g

Thanks for posting!!

Thanks for posting. Just to update, Oscar was very busy and played well into the 90s. I happen to know because, not only was he a good friend, I was the recording engineer for his last 12 albums. And, certain to be of interest in this forum, he had a HUGE case of GAS. Whenever we would get together for a record date, he was always anxious to compare notes and talk about the latest camera gear. Great memories!

Wonderful. My son and I were fortunate to hear him at one of his final performances. He took a while getting to the piano from the wings, which was painful to watch, but then he sat down and began to play.....incredible!

Yes, Oscar Peterson was phenomenal. He was greatly influenced by Art Tatum, arguably the most astonishingly original of all jazz pianists.

Can't argue those claims. Maybe throw in Thelonoius Monk too (for composition and originality).

Thanks Mark. That was another good one. I have spoken with Admin via PM. It is indeed possible to have such a section but there are some downsides as per Admin."Since user-managed sections are not advertised anywhere on our forum, you should think about how you'll promote your section to the other users of the forum before contacting me about creating one. This is very important because if no one knows about your new section, it won't be of much use." So we would need to get a number of members who are interested enough to keep it going and help promote the section.

Got it. Maybe it's not a great idea. We can continue to express interests, links,.. as we are currently doing. Actually, I think www.jazzonthetube.com is all the common connections we need.
