I made a mistake in CVS store. I saw they had SanDisks SDHC cards on sale. I was kinda in a hurry and saw a 32GB card so I put it in the basket and off I went. ($12.00). So my question is will a class 4 card work in a Nikon D3300. I don't do video's or machine gun shooting. I'm just curious. I did look on line and found out what I new already. I didn't want to put it in and take photos and find out I got nothing. Will it work.
Did you check your manual?
If you find out (on here) that it doesn't work, will you return it, package unopened? You may just want to put the card in, go outside and take a few experimental shots, and see if it works. If it doesn't, then there's nothing on the card you wanted to save. If it does work, well you can take a lot of photos before having to download (something I DO NOT recommend!) and you can shoot fast! Sorry I can't be of more assistance but I don't know the answer.
It will work very nicely IF you don't do videos or 'machine gun photos' otherwise you are good to go.

This is from the D3100 manual. I'd return the card.

Yes. Probably have some video recording issues. Will work fine for stills.

Not a huge investment. Try it and see if it will do what you want.
It will work. Performance is a different issue. Since you don't shoot video or burst shots you will probably never notice the difference.

Here is a link that explains the speeds:
https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/For most operations, it will work with your D3300. What you will notice with still's is that the time to write to the card will take a little longer. When shooting bursts, once the buffer fills, the capture rate will be slower.
For some video options, you will be fine. For some video options, it won't be able to handle the speed.
For most walking around and snapping pictures situations, it will work fine. It is only when the camera needs to use the extra speed will it matter.

Sure a class 4 should work just fine. Understand that compared to a 10 it'll be slow but if you're not into burst shooting or video a 4 will do alright.
Judging by the chart Jerry supplied, I'd think it would work but the camera may only recognize 16 of the 32 GB's... As cheap as it was, I'd just keep it & consider it a lesson learned. Might help to call Nikon and/or SanDisk for their opinion though.

It wasn't the money. I was more curious than anything. I didn't want to put in the camera only to mess it up.
I seem to have a special gift to mess up electronics. I pushed OK to up grade my new expensive lap top and it messed up my NEX2. I had it so it would do Raw but it won't now. All the pictures I put on the computer are still there but we're not we're I put them. Also it will not longer read my SDHC card when I put it in my laptop. I can have my daughter fix it I just haven't had the time. This will be the third time. Very embarrassing
So to say the least I'm gun shy. That's why I asked about the card. The most important thing is thanks to the good folks at Ugly I learned a lot.

Because. . . . It will not clear the buffer as fast. . . . You'll always remember that you made a mistake . . . . The "book" says to. . . . When you need to shoot fast and the camera is not ready, you will regret it--all for the price of a cup of coffee.
