Well spotted and nice shot but your smaller fisherman is rather lost in the background. A little Photoshop enhancing would be all you nee to reveal him a little more. The conversion looks as though it could do with a contrast boost to get some black into the image and give you the full tonal range.
I like the perspective and the lines. A fun idea for a photo but I'm wondering why shoot the man in this position? Did the bird move away when he straightened back up to tend to his line?

I thought the guy looks best in this position because he is actually doing something rather than just "dangling his pole".
The heron stuck with the guy for about 30 minutes and only left when another heron arrived and the two of them had a territorial fight.

Nice "catch"! I posted one a couple of years ago on a different forum with the same kind of duo and the same name so I was very curious to see what yours way! Mine was on a dock in South Louisiana. It is fun to watch the relationship between man and bird.
I like your "looking down" view, and the strong diagonal of the pier, the man busy with his fishing, and the bird quietly waiting and watching. You can perhaps get a little more emphasis on the bird in PP (I would be thinking radial filter in ACR if you use that, for a start). But as is, it's still a very nice capture of a "shared' activity" among man and bird with a bonus of really good composition.

I'm not sure what you mean about applying a radial filter to the heron. Could you perhaps do it and show the result and then tell me how you did it. I do have ACR.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing earthshaking, and it didn't do as much as I'd hoped it would. I just added a radial filter in ACR around the gird and increased clarity and tinkered with highlights and shadows a little on the bird. I increased contrast just a bit in the image as a whole, too.
All a matter of choice! Your choice is the one that matters, of course!

I think this is a nice street photo. You have two different fishermen and an interesting story. I think I might add a bit of contrast to make your black and white pop a bit more.
