A storm was on the way, it was getting dark and my subject was about 85 yards away. So the quality of pictures are not the greatest, but you get the idea.
This heron has his eye on dinner, he has to wait for the right moment to attack. And there it is, he thrusts his head completely under the water and marsh grasses, and comes up with what looks like about 5lbs. of salad. Did he catch his prey, I wonder. He turns and sprints to high and dry ground with his catch in tow. Surely dinner is somewhere under all the weeds and slime. Once on high ground he begins sorting out his catch, then he starts pounding his catch with his beak. I figure it sure isn't a frog or small fish. Then he proudly shows off his catch, a 2.5 - 3lb. headless bass. Are you kidding me? I say to myself. How are you going to swallow that. He manages to get the fish in position and down the hatch. I myself am gagging while looking thru my view finder. Then once it's swallowed he keeps his head high as the fish slides down. Awesome sight.

Gator, someday maybe I can get photos as sharp as yours. You've set the bar pretty high with your photos.
