The problem is that I love my cameras until the new models comes out. It's frustrating because when the new models come out, I see all the weaknesses and flaws of the cameras I own and I like to have the latest and the greatest. I own the Sony RX100m4 and now the m5 is out which has much better focusing. I also own the Panasonic GH4 and soon the GH5 will be released and so on. I only can imagine what the improvements are going to be on the new GH5. It never ends. It wouldn't be so bad if I was rich but I'm not. I just purchased a house and now I need to use my funds towards things for the house. It looks like my upgrading days are over for a very long time. I think I need camera therapy! Please help me Hedgehogs! Thanks.

Not I.
I'll probably not replace my camera until it quits working ($). I think about it sometimes, but nah.
(My cell phone is an S-III,
my truck is a 1995,
if they work and meet my needs, why replace them?)

I think in terms of 'Need' rather than 'Want'. And I am a retired Professional Photographer.

Johnny, I understand, but do not share, your sentiments. The cameras I own range in age from 6 to almost 70 years old. I love using them. I know them well and currently have only one that I'd like and is impossible to get, at the moment. I don't let that bother me, but instead concentrate of using what I have. If you care to see what a 45 year old camera can do, http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-425306-1.html

Man, are you in for it! All the Holier-Than-Thou Hog members are going to come out of the woodwork to berate you for allowing the evil marketing gurus to bring you under their spell!
Personally, I believe we all enjoy new toys. Even the grumps who claim not to. You seem to have the sense not to buy more then you can afford so, take what pleasure you can, when you can, and don't worry about it! That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Yes, I used to be like that. Aside from my IR converted cameras, I have two D750s and a D5300. Since buying a D90 in 2011, I've sold fifteen DSLRs. Many of them were bought used or refurbished, and I sold them for decent prices, but it has been a substantial financial loss. I've also bought and sold four Sony cameras - RX100 and NEX - and I have no desire for a new camera. For a compact, I have an Olympus Tough TG860. I can't imagine Nikon introducing an upgrade to the D750 that would tempt me.

Thom Hogan has a good article about buying a tripod. Save yourself a lot of money by getting a really good tripos right off the bat. Constant upgrading costs a fortune.

There's an easy, free therapy and solution at the same time: Ignore everything that even remotely looks like there might be an new camera on the horizon. Instead focus on and learn the strengths of the camera(s) you have!
DO remember how often it has been said on this forum that it is not the camera but the brain behind it that makes the photo...

You can take amazing pictures with a really crappy camera. It's about you ... not the camera. By the way, my cameras are old by these standards too. Shoot and enjoy. Best wishes for the Holiday Season.

Not to worry; it's the American way. Buy, Buy, Buy, and then Buy some more.

It's all B.S.

As suggested by others who replied, think "Need" versus 'Want".

I'd be willing to upgrade, except I don't want to leave the bridge camera, and there is no other bridge on the market that combines all the features of my present one (which is out of production, and the current price is over 2x the in-production price.
