I can understand how a foreign country can have an obscene name for a town because it's a different language, but when an English-speaking country has a rude name, someone obviously had a sense of humor. There was a town in NW NY named Swastika. It shows up in some maps but not others.

What is rude about swastika? The swastika is a very old symbol used by different cultures and really has nothing to do with the hooked cross symbol of the old German national socialist party.

Here's a couple town names near here that some folks consider rude, Intercourse PA and Blue Ball PA.

Jerry, I seem to remember that there is/was a town in Pa. that was named Intercourse. Seeing the one in Florida jogged my memory.

This last summer new neighbors moved in a couple of houses to the east. They were from Beaverlick, Kentucky. Must admit I found myself having a difficult time keeping a straight face when Bruce first introduced himself.

Yes, I drove through there years ago. Lots of people stop by the sign to have their pictures taken. Of course, where "intercourse" is concerned, we tend to think of only one kind of intercourse.

There's a lot of 'bottoms' around here. All refer to the small valleys eroded out of the soft chalk Chiltern Hills I live on and mostly named after a family that farmed there for a long time. Beacons Bottom is a small hamlet and is the closest of the 'bottoms' to me.

I lived in Twatt for a year, on Shetland, the more southern one is on Orkney.
I could tolerate the jokes as the place was so stunningly beautiful, I loved it!

Let's not forget Sugar Tit SC, Big Bone KY and Wankers Corner OR. How long do you think it takes to get from that last place to Climax NC?

Had a laugh at some, but in my neck of the woods, Western Australia, some are already named that.
Eg: Mount Meharry is in the Pilbara, Koolyanobbing, is about where it's marked, Intercourse Island, I've worked there.
Then there is Bullshit hill, all our cities have a Bullshit hill, sometimes called Parliment house.
Interestingly, they are all connected to mining. Meharry is in Iron ore country, Koolyanobbing also in mining, not sure what it mines, FCUK Island, is where millions of tonnes of iron ore is shipped out from, a port facility.
I wonder how many others are real names?
