Film for old film cameras & other things.

Welcome to Winter Northeast U.S.. I have seen and hear people say can't get film for their 35 mm or 120mm film cameras, so the camera get sold off. Which for someone like me is great. But if the true was known, you can still get film. Not at your local Walmark. For people in the Northeast part of the US. one of the place one can go is B&H in New York City. B&H has 35mm film Color or Black & White. Speed? 64 up to 1600. 24 pictures to a roll or 36 per roll. As for 120mm film color or black white. Speed 100 160 200 400. Big question: how do I get my film develop? B&H will do it. There is other place in the US that will do it for you. You want to be put your pictures on the internet, having them put on a CD. One drew back you have to wait for you pictures. What, wait for pictures, what are you in the stone ago. I don't wait for any thing, I want it now. Too bad, unless you develop your own film, you wait. Quinn 4

I purchase all of my film from "The View Camera Store". Fred will special order 35mm and 120 for me, but stocks 4x5, 8x10, etc. I think once a year there is a special order week where "odd" sized sheet film can be ordered. I'm never out of film.

I get my film from The Pasco Camera Exchange. They will also process the film and make prints and they will return the negatives. If you want the pictures digitalized and put on a CD they will do that as well.

Walmart and thrift stores for me. Picked up some Kodak Gold 200 with a 2017 expiration this year and I'm shooting it now. Also have a box of Fujifilm for when I run out of that.

Great this what I like to see. Just an idea, Can us film camera people set up an area to write about film cameras. Like and dislikes of film cameras. Problems with film cameras, ideas on how to work a camera better. I don't want into Nikon vs. Canon kind of fight. If you like the camera you are using, that ok with me. Lets keep it low teach. I don't have a Ph.D from MIT in photography. Ok, back to finish writing about "other things". Quinn 4

I have no problem getting film, be it 135, 120 or sheet film.
If I order film online at Adoroma, it usually arrives at my door 2-3 days later. If I need it sooner, or desire a particular film Adoroma does not offer, I go to my friendly local processing lab and buy it over the counter.

Either use 120 film, or purchase slightly expired 220 film from an eBay seller. I don't think anyone makes new 220 film at this point, other than perhaps in very limited batches for special order. Over the past decade or so, the demand for 220 film has dramatically fallen off.

Film is alive and well...LOTS of places to buy film, get film developed, scanned and such. There is a HUGE film community out there.
The APUG forum is a great place for film folks to hang out.
I develop my own due to cost and speed but that's not the only option.
PS: No waiting here! I can go from shooting to viewing online or darkroom printing in under 2 hours! I use a couple of film dryers that cut negative drying time down to 50 minutes per roll.
I also use a scanner from a 1 hour photo from back in the day; it can scan a whole roll in under 3 minutes.

I do not see on their web site that B&H has a film processing lab. They do sell Fujifilm, Ilford and A&I processing mailers.

This has been brought up before, but it seems that none of the dedicated film shooters want to spend the time sitting in front of a computer it would require to moderate a film section. I sure don’t!

It is convenient to order 35mm film from B&H in NY. No tax on shipments to Florida. Takes about 3 days to arrive. I generally order 10 or 20 rolls at a time. Prices are a bit lower than in a photo store, and selection is broader. I develop my own black and white film for cost and control reasons. Much faster too, particularly if you develop multiple rolls at a time.

Not complaining. An old filmster meself. RIP Kodachrome 25, 64. But I am wondering about those who take, develop, and print (self or outsourced) THEN scan them in to post process and put online or otherwise present electronically. What is the advantage of using the additional steps of film over direct digital production? Just asking and looking for interesting answers.

Pittsburgh still has a traditional camera store called Bernie's Photo Center (full service digital and film) In addition to film, chemicals and related accessories. They do repairs, video transfer ETC.a and can hook you up with vintage gear. This isn't an ad, I often by from B&H too, But It's nice to be able to just grab some 120 on a whim!
