How often and under what circumstance do you use a hood on your lense?
Soon after buying my first camera, I was reading a photo magazine. Your question was asked, and the editor answered "always". I took his advice and always use a hood. Nothing bad has happened because of the hood, so I guess theres no drawback from having it on.
Always outdoors. Usually indoors.
Never on a 'lense' - but often on a lens, depending on the ambient light.

I use a hood on my len about 95% of the time, indoors or out. The only time I don't is when I'm trying to get a sunflare.
Just about always, for mechanical and physical protection as much as against flare.
After all, how much will it harm your images?
Cheers,
R.
99% of the time.
And it keeps my clumsy fingers (& prints) off the lens!
100% of the time. never take them off!!!

Well the hood is a pain when trying to manipulate a circular polarizing filter, but still always. The only exception would be if I were looking for flare.
Hoods help protect the lens from other people fingers etc
After Roger brought it up a few months ago I always use it now...I did some investigation and "always" is the answer.

Thanks for all the answers and sounds like pretty much always is the majority opinion so that's what I'm going to try for awhile. Thanks again for the input...
