Photo printing in the UK

Folks

I think it's safe to say that we all love a good print of our favourite pics. Those UHH members who live in the UK can avail themselves of the excellent facilities of DS Colour Labs in Manchester:

http://dscolourlabs.co.uk

They can produce prints, posters, acrylics and canvases but, for me, their prints service is exceptional. You have two choices: upload your photos and have them scale and auto-correct to the size you select or you can opt for their pro service (at no extra cost) where you pre-size and embed the appropriate ColorSync profile for the paper you want it printed on—profiles are available for download at the site.

They print on Fuji Crystal archive paper (up to 18 x 12) and inkjet up to 52 x 40. Order before 1pm and your pics will be in your hot, sweaty hands the following morning superbly packaged. Cost is excellent too with an 18 x 12 costing £1.20 (that's not a typo!).

For those who need odd-sized prints like panoramas, I can recommend My Big Poster:

http://www.mybigposter.co.uk

They can print on poly poster, self-adhesive vinyl and paper weights up to 260gsm (gloss or satin). Maximum height is 42" and length is up to the limit of the roll which I think is around 100'. Each print is hand-trimmed and turnround time is usually 48 hours, again with excellent packaging. Cost is based on the individual size required but as a guide, I had a 12" x 70" panorama printed on 260gsm paper and it came out to about £33.

I use these labs regularly and cannot recommend them highly enough for the quality of work and their customer service.
