Had an algebra teacher in high school. First day of class he picked up a horse shoe from his desk and straightened it out. Again dead silence. No problems the rest of the year.
I had a ninth grade history teacher. He was short, skinny, and appeared to be a really wimp. Early in the year a student who could have been named Bubba, became very disruptive, loud, foul mouthed and made the mistake of calling him out. The teacher came back into the class room within 5 minutes, and calmly resumed teaching. Bubba returned late in the hour, showing some blood. When Bubba sat down, the teacher informed us, he previously served as a knife fighting instructor in the Marine Corp. Bubba never again was disrespectful in class.

My 7th grade English teacher was a former Marine Sgt. and on the first day of class he walked in and swiftly
kicked the garbage can clear across the room. He had our attention.

Thank you all for commenting. You can't do much better than give folks something to make them smile, or a good belly laugh. It cracked me up when I read it mostly because it reminded me of an English teacher I had in 8th grade who was tough, but he was also the best teacher I had all through my school years.
So was my economics and American history teacher in my 11th and 12th grade
