Try Don Goldberg at Dag Camera repair in Wisconsin. Contact: dagcam@chorus.net. Not certain whether he handles Canon repairs, but he will be able to tell you or, possibly, suggest a different repair source. Good luck.

The forum that you want to ask this question on is rangefinderforums.com. Steven Gandy (Cameraquest.com) also heads up the rangefinder forum web site. Your camera is one of the fine products of Canon during the rangefinder era. The forum I mentioned is devoted to such camera's plus all other unique and historical camera's throughout the 20th century.

This is the link to the dedicated Canon Rangefinder section of RFF forums:

Of the 3 to 500 active members of UHH, I doubt that there are more than a handful aware of the nature of the camera you are asking about. There may be two or three handsful who even know how a rangefinder focusing system really works.

Try RFF and you should get some pertinent answers... more than one.

For shutter replacement, I would contact Canon! Its actually not all that expensive.

don't bother contacting Canon - this is a camera they certainly no longer support. Don Goldberg is your current best go-to resource.

You bring back old memories as I learned to shoot with Canon VIT and 7 bodies, and a variety of Canon and one Nikkor lens. I shot with those bodies and lenses extensively from 1968-1972. I had the VIT body until a few years ago when I sold it in Los Angeles along with the 50/1.4 Nikkor lens. Great Canon bodies.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw your title.

Nice camera. Canon won't be able to help you as that camera is well over 50-years-old. Dan Goldberg at DAG or perhaps Youxin Ye could do it. Most of the people who repair cameras that old focus on Leica, but so long as parts are available (usually off of a donor camera) it should be repairable.
