Just wondering if there is a market for old photo mags, some dating back to the 70's

Surprisingly, no. If it's a special magazine of historical significance, and if you can find someone who really wants it, you're in luck. Look on ebay and see what they're selling for by going down the left column and clicking on "Sold items." I put several groups of car magazines from the 60s and 70s on ebay, and there was no interest at all.

I don't think so, I probably have a stack of 500 or so myself (I don't think I could get 2 bucks for them).

Like the old Nat Geo mags I used to keep. A friend thought she could make money by buying old magazines and then selling them. Half of her plan went fine. She bought dozens.

My late Mother-in-Law used to go to yard sales looking for magazines (primarily NG) published in certain months to send as birthday presents. My sister still has hers from 07/1929.
Moving soon, so just went thru my books and magazine. The magazines that I treasured were the CT' Photo-magazine... it had articles that were tech and some covered 20 pages of the big euro page foremat. So! I ripped out the useful pages for the future and trashed the rest... hated to do it. Books... so much on Net... why keep.

No. They're pretty useless. Anything you need is on the Internet these days. Anything old that is important is archived digitally.

Before you decide to discard your magazine collection, check with your local library, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local camera club, senior citizens clubs etc., high school photo clubs...

Years ago I took two cartons of photo mags to an second hand shop. I had unloaded them on their back porch. They said they didn't want them. I quickly drove off. I hoped they didn't get my plate number. The first thing I do when I receive the mags is tare off the address sticker.
One thing that sells sometimes are gear specific articles and ads clipped from magazines. Collectors sometimes like to get those to frame next to a display of a prized camera. It also can be interesting to see the prices of things, back in the day.

The issue become moot, as there is always enough room for Playboy magazines. Oh for the days of Janet Pilgrim.
Do what I do just take them to doc offices people love to read them better than the junk they have in there book racks.
