I've never seen "flash eyes" like this before. My wife took this photo in our yard with her iPhone 7.
The only adjustments I made were to crop, and lighten the shadows.

I have seen it many times, creepy looking. Easley corrected in most imaging programs. Its still called red eye even though they are not red.
Yes we all have a certain amount of photo-reflective in using on camera flash. Birds commonly have the same issue when using flash and it's called "steel eye", with a noticeable blue coloration. Off camera flash is another way preventing this but as mentioned, graphic editors fix this quite easily.
I hope he hasn't bitten into the batteries in the toy he has in his mouth. LOL. Nice Shot.

I think your dog is from outer space or from the Village of the Damned. Your wife caught your dog just at the right time.

Crocodiles (at least the ones I saw in Central America) have eyes that reflect bright red at night. It was a little creepy to see so many of them reflect in my flashlight.
