These are a couple of left overs from my explorations of Deland. They didn't fit with my previous topics but I wanted to share them. The first two shots are of the exterior of the Athens Theatre which was built in 1921. It is the home of both adult and youth theater companies and also hosts some concerts, films and special events. I have not photographed the interior but it is beautiful and I hope to make that a future project.
The final shot is a piece of metal sculpture that I discovered not far from the theater. Deland has a sculpture walk that takes you all over town. I have not see all of them but there are several that I don't much care for. I was very pleased when I discovered this one!
Carol, very nice! Love the bright colors, clarity and composition! Well done!

Thank you Bill. Both had a lot of power lines, poles and other distractions that it took forever to eliminate but that is half the fun!

What an interesting building Carol so bright and inviting. Enjoyed the colourful sculpture very much. Very good set.
What a beautiful old building. I love all of the detail. They don't make them like that anymore for sure. The sculpture is nice - very interesting and colorful.

Thanks Jane. I just wish the theater was located in a beautiful setting instead of right on the street surrounded by power lines and other distractions. It deserves better. The sculpture is the only one of these metal ones that I have liked. At least it looks like something!

Greg, thank you for your kind comments. I tend to envy everyone's else's beautiful scenery and wonderful buildings and wish Florida was more photogenic. I think we all just have to dig a little but the beauty is everywhere.

Thank you Bob. We have several theaters in the area but this one is the oldest and probably the best know.
