I am looking to purchase a point & shoot camera that basicly no lag time and a decent amount of zoom.
I was using my friends Canon xTi for a couple of months and find it to heavy to carry around for long periods.
Is there any cameras you guys & gals can recommend.
I know that the DSLR cameras basicly have no lag time.

There seems to have a long lag time in comparison to DSLR. I seen one, I don't know if the Nikons are very fast. Some people are telling me to look at the Panasonic's and the Ricoh's.

Panasonic makes some excellent compact cameras, and some of the Canon pocket cams are top notch as well. do some research, you'll find one that suits your needs. most point-n-shoot cameras will exhibit a bit more shutter lag than a DSLR, but many of the better ones have it down to a minimum so that it really doesn't have much impact on your shooting.

If you're looking at p&s due to weight issues, but really prefer the advantages of dslr cameras, give some thought to the 4/3's or micro 4/3 cameras or the ilc's that have recently come out. You can have the advantages (or nearly have) of the larger sensors and variety of lenses without the weight issues. Just ask fivedawgz :-D !

I have the Panasonic lumix- FZ35 for my carry around-
Love it- and it has manual modes also.
I keep learning it has more options than I ever realized.

MY Dslr is a Canon Xsi.

You can't imagine how many times since this forum started that the exact same question has been asked. Rather than look through the threads to find those same posts we get yet another. And the argument continues........................ :(

I've just written a thread on the subject and posted in the General Discussion Section.

Suggest trying the Panasonic Lumix series of even the Leica V Lux 1 or 2. ALL have Leica Vario Elmarit lenses AND very broad zoom range. Not much out there beats a Leica lens. Price is right too!

I looked up your original post and did a bit of research. Here's a link to a review of the cameras in question. I hope this helps. :) http://dpinterface.com/camera-reviews/panasonic-lumix-zs7-review/

Thank you, but I didn't see anything about lag time unless I missed it.

Take a look at the Canon Powershot SX1 15. This CAN be used as a point and shoot camera but it has so much more to offer. It is considered to be almost the equivalent of a SLR but it is smaller and lighter. It will shoot 4 frames per second as well as HD video. There are lots of examples on Youtube like these for example:
