Recently while in West Virginia I tracked down several old covered bridges in Monroe and Greenbrier Counties. May I present Laurel Creek Bridge, Indian Creek Bridge, Hokes Mill Bridge and Herns Mill Bridge.

Reminds me of Indiana, especially the red one. I've been on covered bridge hunts too. I love your photos of them.

Good morning. You have produced some attractive photographs of these covered bridges while giving a strong sense of place. The eye says we are there looking at these structures amid a natural setting.

I have really enjoyed seeing your selection of these covered bridges.
I don't know of any in the UK.

(They also remind me of the film Bridges of Madison County wit Merle Streep and ?) 🤔😀 but then I am a dreamer.

Excellent series. Hope to someday go around and shoot the covered bridges across this country.

Unfortunately I didn't have a beautiful Italian woman invite me to a romantic dinner! Thanks for your kind comments.

I didn't learn until this trip why bridges were covered. Before the advent of treated lumber, the wood used in Bridge building had a life span of only 5 to 7 years if not protected. By adding a roof and sides, the life span was many years as evidenced by these bridges that were built from 1879 to 1903.
