Laminar appears to be a new photo program for Mac. Anybody tried it and have an opinion?
I've pre-ordered it. It is being released on November 17. Looks good!
I've pre-ordered it. I have all of the MacPhun software but I really only use Snapheal.

I have an opinion :) Macphun is the software company behind this new program, and has many of the developers who were behind nik collection before Google bought them, thats a good enough reason to look at this software seriously. The Marketing looks good but then that means nothing who hasn't seen an excellent trailer for a lousy film.
I did look for a beta but didn't find one but on Diy photography .net i found a comment

You can always download a free trial and check how this one will fit your workflow.
The demo version of Luminar will be available on Nov 7. "On the Macphun website system requirements are pretty much 10.10.5 and 4 GB RAM and pretty much a 2009 or later mac.
So hopefully on Monday we can have a test drive of the demo version.
Current plans for Luminar include a Digital Asset Management Feature, which will make it a possible lightroom replacement in December and a Windows version in 2017.
The User interface seems well designed with a simpler mode for new users and more advanced features hidden until required by power users.
I wouldn't buy it yet, I would wait till monday when the trial version is released to test drive it first, there will still be 10 days left to pre-order it.
It still will not be that much more when officially released, although you may miss out on the bundled extra's.
http://www.diyphotography.net/macphun-taking-lightroom-new-one-photo-editing-solution-luminar/https://macphun.com/luminarFor me my interest has definitely been sparked, I will reserve judgement until i get a chance to use it on Monday with a preorder price of $50 €59 it is very well priced, and could be a good alternative to Photoshop and Lightroom. It is cheaper than the Lightroom upgrade and can be used as a lightroom photoshop plugin too. With the experienced development team behind it, this could be an excellent product.

I read about that last night. Sounds good.
On1 is bring out their new one also, should be interesting.
We have over 100,000 dead people in Indiana registered to vote, and more are waiting at the southern border,
$49.00 was my price and I can put it on 5 macs, wonder if we could mix windows and Macs, all they can say is no...
I suspect the same serial number will work on both platforms

I believe they are only making a Mac version.
Both Aurora HDR and Luminar are "ONLY" available for Mac's at this time. Macphun's website says they are working on Aurora HDR for Windows and hope to have it ready "sometime" in 2017. I had emailed them when I first heard about Luminar inquiring about a windows version and pricing for it as well. I received an email today stating that "a Windows version of both Aurora HDR and Luminar are a super high priority here at Macphun and are in development and being worked on. At this time, there is no date set or announcement planned for release of either project. As soon as they are available, an announcement will be made and more than likely, special pricing for those versions will be available as well".

Hey, this is Alex from Macphun.
First of all, I look forward to hearing your feedback after the 17th.
Share it here, or simply email me at alex@macphun.com
As for the developers, I wonder where this thought is coming from, but we have 0 people from NIK on the development side.
We do have couple of great former NIK people leading our marketing and business development efforts though.
Cheers
Alex

Ok I got that wrong, I thought that after Nik was bought by google some developers left and started Macphun. I'm sure I read that somewhere so I apologies for spreading misinformation.
However can you point us in the direction of the beta or trial version. I was looking for it but I couldn't find it.
Are things still on track for the DAM feature in December?
Just downloaded and installed my copy, interface seems really easy to use, incredible amount of zoom capability, lots of choices for enhancing photos. So far I have only tried a couple (supposed to be working on other things lol) but am impressed. Not sure if it will replace LR and Photoshop but just might for me, we'll see.
Can't go wrong at $64 Canadian, impressive bit of kit for that price.
Please share as much feedback as possible.
We have a new update coming in December with Batch processing and new filters, plus speed improvements.
So any feedback is helpful:)
