Where would I get the pictures I take printed? Who will print Boudoir and Nudes? Don't want the pimple faced kid at Walmart getting his hands on them. Does Adorama?

Ok this has gotten way off track before it even got on track. The Question is who will print Boudoir and or Nudes? Not everyone will print them. The reason I said I dont want the pimple faced kid at Walgreens to touch them is not because he might look at them, it is because I want them handled by a professional Lab. I called MPIX and they said they will do them but they really are more of a "Family" Lab not sure what that meant other than they did not seem to really want to do them, but would. As for buying a printer the cost of the printer to print the sizes I want makes no sense at this point if I can get a proffesional lab to do them.
As far as someone copying them at the lab, Well the whole point of printing them is for display. They are going to be printed for people to see. If someone in a lab wants to steal copies to spank their monkey to, Good Luck to Them. Now if someone steals them and uses them for some kind of gain then I would have recourse as the copyright holder. So it is really no different a risk than if I have portraits of my dog printed.

Now can we get back to the original question: Does anyone have a recomendation for a lab to print Boudior and Nudes?
Thanks

Your last comment (bolded) raises concerns about "theft" of downloadable images posted on UHH, does it not? What is to stop any UHH user from posting one of these photos on Facebook, after which one loses total control of the distribution?

You are absolutely right about that. But I would think that since we are all photographers, that we would respect each other. Not all people that work in labs are photographers, in fact from my experiences, unless it s a small local lab, most are not photographers, but factory workers and have no idea of photography ethics, nor do they care.

If it is Legal, these guys will print it.... and do a good job. "Blue Cube Imaging"

I am offering two links. One is the Model Mayhem Profile. It provides a little information about the owner and his business. I doubt it will have a Member Only setting:
http://www.modelmayhem.com/BlueCubeImaging
Next is the "Link" you reach if you were to click on his website info from Model Mayhem. This is provided in case his MM profile is locked down to Members Only:
http://s368228973.onlinehome.us/bluecubeimaging/onlinePrint.html

I have never sent him any work, but spoke with him on the phone once and his conversation convinced me that his business respects your work and your privacy... (i.e. No pimply teenagers employed). Also, he basically told me that if it's legal to have in your possession, he will print it.

Other recommendations are just about any Pro-Lab unless your work is graphic.

It's not the pimpy teenagers you have to worry about. When I worked at a lab several decades ago, it was the older women who were making all the prints for themselves. They were fearless and printed anything they wanted. I swear a few of them had a couple of trunkfuls of prints at home and maybe even more. It was their sole purpose for working for working there; to print everyones photos for themselves.

You might not care but the model might and could sue you if they get out from the wrong source.

Actually no their recourse may be against the person who stole them and print lab, that is their liability. If in fact the model retained any rights at all. But if they release those rights then no. I am sure all of the Philadelphia lawyers would love to argue that point. But it is not even an issue. Forget you are making an assumption about the ownership of the images and you make your statement without knowing what rights to the images the model may or may not have released. It is a legal question of custody. Think if you as an employee of a company makes a deposit in a bank for a company and the bank subsequently gets robbed are you as the depositor liable? No! Again if you turn them over to a progressional lab they assume the liability while the images are in their custody. The photographer has shifted his liability to the lab who has taken custody. I as the Copyright owner would have the recourse. Again this has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

Think as you want but I'm warning you that there could be consequences. I'm only trying to caution you, not here to argue with you.

You are an Attorney? Know as I may it is simple Tort law 101 that any first year law student would know. Think about what you are saying. They should shut this section down all together because every single post in this section is subject to the exact same peril. Actually a greater peril because the pictures are exposed to far more people who could download them and do what the want. But again my question was not about the risk. It was looking for recommendations for professional labs that will process nudes

Costco put a permanent sticker over my daughter's breasts in a tasteful portrait of her nursing her twin boys. That's my only experience.

I hope you didn't pay for the print, or any others in the same order. That seems to be an inappropriate business practice.

If you don't have a printer, if you have a friend with one that you trust, ask that person.

I'm sure you realize this post is almost 4 1/2 years old. Hopefully he solved his dilemma long ago.
