My focus-stack creates a weird artificial looking flower with blurred areas due to wilting while shooting many shots.
What you have noticed is called 'ghosting', and can be corrected by certain focus-stacking programs.

I concur, freezing might kill them but chilling does not, it just "slows" everything down in them. Ever observe ants on a cold morning (compared to afternoon)? Arthropoda (including Insects, Spiders, Lobsters, Shrimp) are very different from Chordata (Fish, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds, Mammals). Concerning cruelty: I would imagine Insects feel pain differently from humans and probably feel little from being cooled. But Vertebrates (Chordata) certainly feel pain! And both Birds and Mammals are uncomfortable when chilled and can easily die if their body temperature is lowered or raised much below or above normal. And I truly believe all mammals feel pain like we do. Humans, Cats, Dogs, and Horses, etc. are not all that different fundamentally. I should point out that my degree is in Biology, and Photographic Art is more a hobby for me.
I concur, freezing might kill them but chilling do... (show quote)

Cruel treatment

Not sure if you meant your reply as tongue in cheek. If not, consider that all you would be doing is cooling them not freezing them to death. Since they are cold blooded animals, their biochemical processes will slow but not stop. Once they warm up they're fine. I've personally observed a fly that got into my refrigerator. It looked dead when I took it out but after a few minutes it took off flying around the room.

One of the things you need is a focussing rail, one of the other things you need is stacking software such as Helcon Focus or Zerene Stacker. It is quite possible that the softness in your images is Photoshop not stacking your images very well. My method for flowers is to set the lens on f/11 and move the camera about a millimetre for each exposure
The first photo is a cactus flower is about 15 photos stacked in Zerene Stacker
The second photo is a Rhododendron flower it is about twenty photos stacked in Helicon Focus.
Both photos the lens was set at f/11 and the lens is a Sony 90mm2.8 FE shot on a Sony a6000

NONE of these definitions are applicable to macro-photography nor focus-stacking. Are you wanting to learn, or just argue?
