W-7 Home Premium did not come with warnings of the CURSE that "Thou Shall Not Benefit From Your XP Programs" nor be able to able to install Virtual XP.... "Lest Ye Buy an UPGRADE"

What workaround will work?... is there a 3rd party addon? I am with out scruples when it comes to MS since they have taken the first blow and it was below the bottom like belt!!

Xp mode is only available in PRO and Ultimate versions of windows 7. You must buy the upgrade.

You sound like a priest of the "Holly Redmond Church" but I assure you that it is known that there are "virtual XP" work-around. I in a sense would like to know which is the better and if there is a low cost 3rd party addon.

One of the from-MS-Upgrade-Evils is that it would wipe away all the Programs I have installed. Those from Giveawayoftheday.com would be lost and if purchased would amount to a tidy sum. It is not like OK here MS is money, please send me an unlock code. This is especially true with my Laptop that did not come with disks for pre-installed programs. Yes, I have made a back-up, but that would just reinstall the home premium W7 that I have.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop as well as my older desktop and all my old XP programs work just fine on them, including Office 2000. Have you downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft?

You could also partition your hard drive install XP in d-drive once XP is installed you can install Win-7 in c-drive then when windows boots it will ask if you want to run Win-7 or an older version of Windows

Yes, Bjor, that is indeed perhaps what I may have to do. There are some prog that will partition without destroying the W-7. I have my copy of XP Pro.

The XP is a 32 bit while the W 7 is a 64 bit. XP stuff will/should go into W 7 with no problem but W 7 will not go into XP. Good luck.

I believe that Win 7 is both 32 and 64.

I am able to run XP under vmware and virtualbox, two virtual "machines". Although I do that under Linux, I am pretty sure that both vmware (their free "player") and virtualbox, both of which emulate a computer running under a host operating system, such as Windows 7, are available for Windows.
Check them out at:
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/overview.html
and
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

So, basically, I run XP (or Windows 7) operating systems in a virtual machine under my host operating system, which happens to be Linux. It works very well. Installed XP from my original CD.

Try this work around.
Find the .exe file for the program.
Right-click and choose properties.
Click on the "compatibility" tab.
In the "Compatibility Mode" box, select the version of Windows you had before from the drop down. If that selection doesn't work try a different one.

I use Eudora as my email program. Love it. Didn't want to work in Win 7. I researched the solution and found out about this work-around.

Notes:
I upgraded to Win 7 Pro, so that may not be an option for your version but it's worth a look.
The only thing missing from Eudora is Help, which I don't use anyway.

Check the compatability, it should work, like Indi said.
