I had a 2008 Dell desktop repaired in Sept, and Win 10 installed. I didn't get a key, but he said if I ever needed one to call. Today I got a window from MS telling me that I had to activate Win10. I found the Key with a keyfinder, but MS didn't accept it - "could not connect to your organization's network." I called the shop, and naturally, they wanted me to bring it in and leave it. Eventually, I found a way to do a chat with MS. In about ten minutes, he was able to activate Windows. He did a search for the key and found the same number that I already had. He said it would now be a good number to use. As he took control of my computer, it was funny watching him go from window to window doing things.
Unfortunately, the windows popped up again this morning telling me that my Windows 10 license is about to expire. I guess I'll have to do another Chat.
Way to go Jerry!! I've used MS support chat several times and have been delighted with the excellent customer service. I'm always bewildered by the categorical negatives posted about Microsoft. Thanks for posting a "good experience".

If you look at my post above, you'll see that the tech's solution yesterday didn't work. I'm still getting the pop-up telling me that Windows is about to expire.
Thanks. I guess I missed that. Hopefully another chat will fix it.

Yes, and then that Nigerian prince will send me my money.
Maybe you should have let the man who calls from Windows support with the accent help you. You've probably had a couple of calls from him.
I don't phone. I "chat" for some of those same reasons. I have no problems with support personnel. I'm courteous & respectful and usually receive the same as well as a resolve of the issue. Everyone has an accent. LOL

But I'm sure he'd need my credit card number first.
