This weekend is going to be about the last opportunity to get good fall foliage in our area. Tomorrow I'm planning on going to the mountains of New Jersey (more like geological acne, but you get the idea) for fall color. This evening was very windy and, while driving around the shore I came across this scene. I think the interest is in the wind blown reeds. The building is the Seaside Park yacht club. The sun was almost setting on camera left and behind me. Do you think that the blowing reeds add interest or does it just come across as a blurry photo? All comments welcome.

Erich I think you did a good job of catching the action....similar to a sports shot. The composition in my opinion could be improved by a reduction in the amount of reeds.
Sorry mate I'm in the blurry fota camp on this one. Do ya think blowing reeds add interest is a good FYC type question tho! Remember in the right light those reeds can talk to ya. There are actually some good shots of blowing reeds if you go to Google images. Put in "Blowing reeds" though, I put in "Blowing grass" and got loads of pictures of my old mates!!!!!!!

I think this shot belongs in the "If I could turn back time" bin. Maybe a cool idea done properly. Therein lies the catch..... Going out today for some real shots. Maybe I'll come up with something a little better. Thanks for the grounding; but I think I was already there before I read your comment. Have a good day.

Erich its like you joined two snapshots together and hoped for the best. Not to the usual standard of yours. I cant even suggest anything.

I believe I see where you were going with this. I basically like it. If I had come across it I may well have done exactly the same. To me it's another of those good-concept-not-so-much-execution things. I think it might maybe have worked better simply with less blur to the reeds. I checked the exif and you were at 1/13 sec., ISO 100 (f/9). I wonder if you could have boosted ISO and shutter so as to get
some blur to imply the wind, just not as much.
The strong surf helps set the scene.

I have no suggestions either. Sometimes we post things that just aren't very good. I'm afraid this is one of those. I appreciate you taking a look.

Chuck, You make a very good point. When I was shooting, I tried to get different angles and different shutter speeds. I have some that are absolutely sharp and then foreground was very dark. I also have some with a little bit of blur. Either way, the ones I have are lacking in composition and are, at best, snaps of something I saw. THank you for your comments. I just think this one misses the mark. I'll chalk it up to a learning experience. Thanks for the ideas.
