I have recently upgrade my computer system to Windows7. PS 7.0 will not upload to Windows7. Any one find a round about way to make PS 7.0 work with Windows?

Thanks.

Don't know as I have PSE 10 and Windows 7. Did you uninstall and then reinstall? May try that. Good luck.

Well, I do not know for sure, but Photoshop 7 was from 2003. Very high likelihood that Windows 7 does not support it. Since I am sure it is a registered copy, a call to Adobe might be in order.

I have asked the same question and they moved me to ChitChat section. There are virtual XP workarounds, but which is best? That is why I posted. MS did not warn us that we should have bought their "higher" forms of 7. So follow my question in ChitChat.. I will follow yours and perhaps we will both live long and prosper.

And NO, Adobe does not support older program mods. My problem is with Dragon Naturally Speaking 9.5. While I have newer, they are not as functional as 9.5 --- seems they had problems adjusting to W-7 with their W-7 compatable 10 program, installs but was weak in features and function.

Thus far, only the It-Kaint, It-whont, people have addressed the problem. I have tried one approach and read a lot. The approach I tried, at this point does not work. Perhaps I will find out if I did some thing wrong...or... forbid I think it... did MS in one of their auto upgrades that install Thursdays block the workaround?

I have a laptop which is 64bit. Windows 7. I didn't have any problems installing P/shop 7 onto it. Have you tried uninstalling it then try to install it again? I really can't offer any other suggestions. Sorry and good luck.

I am running Photoshop 7.0 on a desktop PC with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Photoshop 7.0 installed to C:\Program Files (x86) directory which is the 32-bit directory and it runs perfectly.

Paul, which W-7 are you running. And did you manually copy to a created Program X86 PS-7 file and install manually (not auto start) from within. Paul, please give details of the W-7 and other details.

I have Windows 7 64 bit with Ultimate and I didn't have any problem loading Photoshop 7. I wonder if Ultimate makes a differance? Bee

In truth I cannot remember how I did it. Usually when you want to install a program it asks if you want to install in ***** directory. Select "Browse" and go to C:\Program Files (x86)directory. NOT the adjacent C:\ Program Files Directory.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 1.
Ran Setup.exe from directory listing of CD.
Installation fully automatic from there on, accepting default directory.
Hope this helps.

Recently, a friend bought a new computer that he planned to use only for photo editing. His Editing program is PSE9. He soon found out that he couldn't download the PSE9 into the new computer and called me to help him. I was unable to help him so we called tech support. What we discovered was unlike many programs that you can buy, that allow use on more than one computer, PHE9 has a user licence for only one computer at a time. You find these things out if you read those fifty page user agreements, something that most of us don't ever do. User agreements are a lot like bills in congress, if you read the whole thing you will find many thing that you hoped weren't there. Ever wonder why that mystery program suddenly showed up on your computer? Most likely you agreed to it. Anyway back to the subject. The problem was, my friend hadn't deleted the PSE9 from his other computer and Adobe has away of knowing that. Once he removed the program. Adobe sent him a email that allowed him to download to the new computer. This may be your problem. Your other problem might be that PS7 might not be loadable into a 64 bit computer. I've encountered this problem with several older programs.

Recently I spoke with a computer guy @ walmart - he mentioned that many of the older prms such as PS 7 would not run properly on the newer window systems - post windows XP - he suggested creating a "virtual" xp like system within the windows 7 - he did mention the more expensive laptops from regular computer shops could sell one of these capable machines - an alternative would look for another pgm that would do much the same as PS7 thus the suggestion for Gimp

hope that helps
