Welcome to Day 143 :) Today makes a full week with no camera for me .... I'm really needing to get out and *shoot* some stuff .. When I do get it back the hubby won't be seeing me for a couple days .. I have some catching up to do. Thank the Lord for archives :)
So today we are going to pay tribute to all our Feathered friends. Birds seem to be my nemesis. I never seem to catch them in flight. However they do pose pretty for me :)
Here are a few examples of some of my favorites. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Feathers - Unfortunately I am not good at birds, but feathers is a different story for me.

"It is commonly thought in most cultures that feathers are symbols of higher thought, spiritual progression. The line of thought here is that birds were considered divine creatures in primitive/ancient cultures because they are creatures of the sky (heaven) and therefore closer to God.

When you find feathers upon your path it could be taken to mean that you are on a higher spiritual path (whether you accept it or not), and it may be a sign of encouragement as you philosophically travel on this path.

Finding feathers on your path is also symbolic of having a lighter outlook on life or a particular situation. When we see feathers in our midst it is considered a message that we need to lighten up, not take things too seriously, and try to find the joy in our situation."

My mother was a believer in symbols and "signs" and mostly of guardian angels.

On the day we had the Memorial for my mother we were in a small chapel that had doors on each side of the alter that opened into a lovely garden and it was very warm that day in June so both doors were open. The podium was backed by a beautiful stained glass window picturing the mountains and oceans. As the tributes and songs began, a white feather blew in one door and in full view of all of the attendees, that feather floated back and forth in front of that stained glass, between the two open doors (behind whomever was at the podium) for the entire memorial. My father sitting in the very back row watched that feather and listened and knew the minute the last tone on the piano was played the feather was gone. That feather sustained all of us that day......

For 35 days after that day, each morning when Dad would come out of his Motorhome parked in our front yard, there would be a feather laying on the step. Every day.. He saved each one in a box and took them to one of their favorite places - San Javier Mission in Az. and had his own release of feathers and wished her GodSpeed.

Now when any of us see a feather in a particularly unusual place - like in the front seat of the car - or sitting on top of the mailbox - we smile and say HI and know that she is near and watching out for us. Of course some of those special feathers we save. Here are my special feathers...... Bless all of you that take the phenominal bird pictures.. now you know why I love looking at them so much.

The owl babies is quite a story.......

We had baby owls and baby cottontails...all in the same area...both learning about life....

So...every morning the baby owls would fly up to this ledge to "hunt" for baby cottontails. Every morning the baby cottontails would be out looking for grass and other munchies...SO...every morning we'd go out and chase the owls back to the barn, so the cottontails could eat..then we'd chase off the cottontails, so the owls could practice on something else....it was a busy 3 weeks for us, while the owls learned to fly further to hunt..

Birds. Seems very appropriate as am on the Big Silver One today....... Would be less expensive to go via Whitewitch broomstick...... Taking new camera with me. On Friday I won a prize for my short story ""The Hawk" about this hawk and mourning dove..... Although Roadrunner and chick doing well, still no signs of Quail chicks which I think means a long hot summer here in the desert.... To those that don't know "Bird" is British slang for girlfriend..... Don't forget sometimes the best shots are behind you...... but of course it is probable her shot was much, much better.. ....Aaaahhhh, The Joy of Photography....... and last but not least.... Lest we forget.... Santa Monica. Have a great summer. Back to UHH in the autumn. (Fall to you!) Cheers!
