This shot is a 3 bracket HDR of +2/-2. It was generated with HDR Efex Pro 2 using one of the realistic presets called "Dark". While in a lots of ways I like it, I also feel it is over cooked. It was a spectacular sunset yet I go back and forth on whether to tone it down some.

I agree it is a very special sunset and well executed. I would not tone it down.

You've done a good job on bringing our the details in yr HDR work. Only my opinion so please don't be offended by my comment but I would as you said tone the HDR down a bit. If you enlarge yr HDR shot you can see a slight haloing on the horizon not seen on yr original.
Not sure what it is maybe stray light coming in on yr camera but look to the bottom left on the HDR photo it shows a blue streak it shows a lot more on that photo.

Thank you Baz for your comments, I appreciate them very much. What you see in the lower left is a pipe. Good eye as I forgot that it was there. As for the haloing I had not noticed that so thanks for pointing it out.

Good the pipe should be easy enough to remove or crop the pic. Other than that nice work. 👍

I agree. And I would also suggest a bit of desaturation on the deeply blue sky. It just seems to stand out as too dark a blue.

JimH123, thank you for the suggestion. I will try desaturating the blue sky a bit.

That's one sunset to remember and you have what you need to work it. Nice start. HDR really opened up the shadow detail and this is where HDR shines, but just for kicks try making a clone/virtual copy to play with.
