I am interested in the model that will give the best printed image from one of the two models.
Good or bad experience and satisfaction

I have a pro 10 and a pro 100. The pro 10 with its 10 cartridges, has print quality almost as good as the pro 1 with its 12 cartridges. The pro 100 has 8 cartridges and it's print quality is very close to that of the pro 10. I use the pro 10 primarily for 13 x 19 prints.

The Pro-1 and Pro-10 use pigment inks, the Pro-100 uses dye inks.
The dye inks produce brighter more colorful images but are vulnerable to light that fades or color shifts the image.
The pigment inks are not quite so smooth and bright in the colors but hold up better.
This causes the use of different papers to get images that look alike done on the two printers.

Dye inks are fine for short term images or ones kept out of bright light. Pigments are OK shown in brighter environments.

I use a Pro-100, most of my prints are for the photo club, family albums etc.
For long term prints my local camera store has pigment printers set up for use at a fairly good fee, if you don't have your own paper there is an additional charge for that and of course they may not have your favorite in stock.

I own a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer, and have made scores of 13x19-inch color prints. I am quite pleased with the accuracy of color in each of my prints.
I invite you to drop-by the UHH section Printers and Color Printing Forum at http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-120-1.html

Currently, B&H Photo has the Pro-100 on sale for $130: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/893738-REG/Canon_6228b002_Pixma_Pro_100_Photo_Inkjet.html
which includes a 50-sheet pack of 13x19-inch Semi-Gloss photo paper.

Canon says their dye inks are good for 300 years.

The dye inks used in the Canon Pixma Pro 100 will probably out last most of it's users so I wouldn't consider that a problem at all. If you are really worried about archiving it would be better to digitally archive in the most efficient way possible.

I have a 10 which I don't recommend. Expensive and always having trouble. I also have a Pro 9000, years old and always works like a dream and does a good job. Hope this helps a little.

What I didn't add above is that I have the Canon Pixma Pro 100 and really enjoy using it. It produces fantastic pictures with minimal problems the dye inks don't clog as easily and for $130 you can't beat the price.

I Have Canon Pro 1 and really love to use it ! There was a good rebate offered ( $300 off with some 13 x 19 Pro Platinum Photo Paper ) ! No close area to view and prior to purchase ! Some friends and I traveled to a store out of town ! After seeing the printer and some printed Images I bitt he bullet ! The paper is seven star rated and is worth every star ! The quality is great and printer operation great as well after some trial and error ! The Ink and photo paper is not cheap but the quality is spectacular I watch for preferred sales and buy then ! It is what I have and feel the quality makes it preferred for me ! Thus is the second Canon Printer I have owned (9500 ) but I can not speak of the other new models but I am really pleased with PRO 1

I have had the pro 100 for a number of years and love the prints I get. I only use it for 13x19 prints. I use the canon 8220 for 8x10 and for every day copies.
If you can get the pro 100 for 138 run don't walk and get it. our local staples want 490.

I have had a Pixma Pro 1 for several years. I have been very happy with print quality and permanence. I have had prints on display in my office fore several years and can detect no fading. This printer replaced an HP B8190 printer which was a huge nuisance to keep printing. On any photo printer that doesn't break you will eventually spend more on paper and ink than the printer costs. A 12-cartridge ink set for the Pro-1 is over $300, but the cartridges are pretty large (36 ml) and appear to last a long time. I have mapped my printer for specific papers, and myvprints come out looking very close to what I see on my calibrated monitor. Printing is reasonably fast, and the printer does not make a lot of noise while it is working. It is physically large - I had to buy a new printer stand. Actually, I got a large heavy-duty bakers rack. Photo paper on top, the Pro 1 on the second shelf, and mono and color lasers on the shelf below that. Even with all that weight, the rack wiggles a bit while the Pixma is printing.

I have a Canon Prixma 9500 Mark II and a Pro 100 on an iMac with IOS 10.12 (Sierra) and neither work as Canon software for their printers will not work under this operating system. Canon is working with Apple to address this issue.

I've used a Canon Pro 9500 on a Mac Pro for years, never with any problems. All the above named printers will produce OK results if you keep your monitor calibrated properly. The Pro 1 is my current 13x19 printer and I regard it as exceptionally good.
