I am doing a class on iPhone photography at the senior center. Wonder why? Our photo club is dwindling, and no wonder. On my latest trip to Canadian Rockies, I was the only one with a camera. Hoping to get new people interested in photography. I have found lots on the internet, but if you think of anything helpful, let me know. Know the phone functions, but suppose there's always something new. I've even made homemade tripods for the phone.

Good picture for a phone. Have you been doing any post production with RAW images from your IPhone?

It's a beautiful photo, and i don't think anyone would know it was taken with an iPhone.

If you are using an iPhone 7 with the newest OS you can shoot RAW.

I use a selfie stick with my iPhone camera to get interesting high angle shots of scenes, raising the iPhone up high and triggering the camera with the remote button on the stick's hand grip. The selfie stick can also serve as a convenient monopod.

Are selfie sticks made to only hold cell phones, or can they be used with point and shoot cameras as well?

I recently had a silly experience - packed up my camera bag and tripod and set out to take pictures - but I forgot to take the two batteries - which were still in their chargers.

So . . .

I used my phone.

Pictures are here:

Best advice is to help your students see differently - not having to worry about camera settings and weight you can concentrate on visualizing and composition.

Funny. I walked off without 2 cameras last weekend. Duh! Used my phone. Your photos are great. A lot of people don't know about the functions on the iPhone, so will cover them; like you can take a photo with the volume button, etc. and then just general photo basics like leading lines, etc. should be interesting

Yes, any small camera can easily be attached; I have successfully used the stick with my pocket camera several times. Just unscrew the phone holder clamp, which then reveals a standard tripod screw upon which you can mount the camera. To take pictures, you can use the camera's shutter delay timer.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking about being able to use it as a tripod substitute, when the terrain is not tripod friendly, with a (wired) remote shutter release.
