Any recommendations for a high zoom bridge camera with at least 1" sensor? The Panasonic FZ1000 seems like the best for the money. The Sony rx10 zoom is not long enough. Anyone hear of any new larger sensor ones in the pipeline?

RX10iii has a 600mm zoom and a 1" sensor. It's also $1600.00!!! Excellent camera, but spendy.

Tough to go wrong with the FZ1000...that would be my choice, unless I wanted weather-sealing, then it would be the Rx10iii

The fz1000 is a 16*zoom and the newer fz 2500 is a 20*zoom, both have a 1" sensor and 4k video recording.

Wow! The 2500 looks awesome! A little expensive. It might cause the fz1000 to drop in price.

Yes, I looked at this comparison. One error is that the 1000 does not have touchscreen, but smartphone can be used as touchscreen. It seems the main differences between the two panasonics (aside from price) are the 400 vs 480 zoom, the touchscreen, and a big improvement in video. The 2500 has a few cool features (such as extend the background and not the subject) but nothing that is a necessity for me. So far, I'm heading in the 1000 direction.

BTW, I have only been on this site for a couple months and I am amazed at how much learning I get from it. And a big thank you to all who are taking the time to respond.

One of the things the bridge cameras offer is extended telephoto/zoom range that eliminates the need to pack around a bunch of different lenses. Even the RX10iii comes out fairly inexpensive compared to a DSLR and a variety of different lenses. While it's true that there can be some IQ sacrifices with an "all-in-one" lens system, they're pretty good anyway. I have always been one who demanded long telephoto range, but what I've discovered is that I rarely use all that range. I've got the FZ200 with 24-600 zoom range, and I hardly ever use it. My main camera now is a D7200 with the 18-140 zoom, and that seems to be all I need anymore. I'm thinking about dumping all that heavy DSLR gear and all my other cameras and going for either the FZ2500 when it comes out, or the RX10iii. Less gear, less weight, and a 1" sensor is fine with me. My main complaint with the FZ200 is the small 1/2.3" sensor. The older I get, the less weight and bulk I want to heft around. In the end, any of the three mentioned bridge cameras is a winner, in my opinion.

I just bought an FZ1000 and it's great. A fraction of the weight of my D810+lens. Of course it's not a D810, either!

Is there any difference between the Sony RX10ii and iii other than the longer zoom?

I have used my Canon G3 X now for close to a year and am quite happy with it. The burst function for shooting hummingbirds has been a plus, and it has worked surprisingly well in low light conditions.

I recently bought the Sony RX10 3 and it is fantastic. I have been shooting Pentax dslrs for years and have the Sigma 50-500 that I use with them. I decided to see how Sony would work for me as I photograph a lot of wildlife as well as scenic. I am 80 and decided it was time to limit the amount and weight. It was a great move, I am very happy with the photos I'm getting even though I have not been able to use RAW because my Lightroom 5.6 won't recognize the photos. I believe I am going to sell at least one Pentax and the Sigma at this point.
