I am considering buying a Chromebook, does any UHH member use one for photo work such as editing etc.
I already use an Android Tablet for this and the results are very good, the PP apps I use are Snapseed or Google Photos.
I use a PC for most processing but I was wondering if a Chromebook would be a viable alternative.

I do some basic, quick edits on befunky.com

It has a lot more options in the paid version; you might want to check it out.

And just google "Chromebook photo apps" to find others that may suit your needs, if you don't receive a lot of replies to this topic.

I just received a Chomebook 15 as a gift, and I have a editing program called "Polar" that seemed to get good reviews. Have not used it as yet so I have no opinion either positive or negative.

I think you may be referring to the 'Chromebook' computer, right? If so, I don't think you'd have the 'freedom' you would find with a conventional computer. Our local schools distribute Chromebook computers to students and the computers are quite limited (deliberately) in what they can/will do. I don't know from personal use though. Our Grandson had one and said he wasn't happy with it, compared to their 'home computer'.

Chromebooks have a Google Chrome operating system and are for mostly working online. They are not compatible with Windows-based software. The browser is, not surprisingly, Google Chrome

Back when Microsoft was so aggressive in promoting IE and swamping pioneer Netscape, people were saying that everything would become browser-based, so O/S would become unimportant; that logic was thought to be why MS wanted to dominate the browser world. After that effort, MS went back to life as usual, and Google snuck into the Netscape niche one free app at a time.

I thought about getting one and using polar, but I like lightroom a lot better than Polar. and Snapseed is no longer on the web, unless you screw around and add android apps to it. You can find a windows refurb on Amazon or Newegg for just a little more $. It would allow growth in photo editing.

I got a Dell Chromebook (refurbished) for $150, and I love it. It boots up in a few seconds, and is perfect for browsing the Web, doing email, etc. It's basically an online machine, but I'd never consider photo processing with it. I use my desktop for that. I use the Chrome browser, so all my bookmarks and email addresses carry over from desktop to Chromebook.

I use a Chromebook and I am very happy with it. Most of the photo apps available on it will give you good basic editing capabilities. But none will give you the full-fledged capabilities you would find in Photoshop or similar desktop programs. But if you only do basic editing anyway, then a Chromebook should work well for you.

I bought a Chromebook about a month ago from Groupon. I have yet to use it because I lost my document that has the password to get onto my WiFi system at home. :-( Still looking. Cheers.

Hi Jerry~! I, too, hate passwords. Between my work passwords, credit card passwords, emails, etc... I have 2 pages full of passwords. Thanks for the link! Cheers.

I hate it when a P/W doesn't work, and I have to make up a new one. Then it tells me that it's one I've used before, so I have to try again.
