Selling my Sony a6000 and Olympus M-5

After much deliberation I have decided to sell my Sony a6000- it's an awesome camera. I have discovered lately that the video is pretty nice too. I have the 55-210 mm lens and the Sigma 19 mm lens for it. And also selling my Olympus M-5 (not mark 2 version). Hard decisions to sell each but my Panasonic Gx8 and Pentax cameras meet all of my needs right now. I will be putting up pictures, prices and full descriptions in the next couple of days.

What Pentax are you using? - Just curious.

Wow...I consider my A6000 right up along with the Nikon F2S, Nikon F5, Nikon D1, Nikon D300, and Canon 40D as being a classic piece of equipment...I am waiting for the new iterations of the A6000 to depress the used market on the Sony A6000, Sony NEX 6 & 7 at KEH.com....though they are still holding their own price wise which is good for you for trading into another camera and/or lens etc. eventually......

The A6000 is probably the most enjoyable/dependable camera I have ever used...bar none..... a true landmark, classic camera given its small size, APS-C sensor, and robust truly FUN features Sony loaded it up with...I would be holding onto to that one!!

Some nice fall colors just around the corner from you at the San Pedro House riparian reserve area about to happen...........actually the tree OVER the San Pedro House in fact is splendid with its annual fall yellow magnificent display!!!!!

You live in a very, very beautiful, interesting part of AZ in both directions east and west from you south of I-10....from Sonoita to the drive along the south facing side of the Huachucas to the dirt road below Boot Hill to the Dragoons to the spectacular Chiricahua Mountains/Portal...and everything else in between...

I agree with the previous poster that the a6000 is a great camera. But....like you, I have barely used mine at all since getting the GX-8.

I have the K-3 11 with the 12-24 mm lens (awesome lens) and 50 mm macro and the 300 mm f4 which is a wonderful lens.

That's what made it such a hard decision. I have just come back from Salem Oregon to Sierra Vista for the winter and will be hitting all the places you mentioned :)

There is much to be said for not keeping around that which you aren't using. After awhile we find out what we actually like to use when deciding to go on a shoot. If I had a dollar for every time I heard when was the last time you used that... The Sony a6000 and appropriate adapters provided some measure vindication for being a photo pack rat. The portablity and high quality brought me to the space you are in. In the long run your way is better. I tip my hat to you✌️️

I will be looking forward to the price you will ask for the Sigma 19 mm.

I have the Sony A6000 as well as Micro 4/3 cameras. What do you prefer about the GX8 over the Sony? I am thinking about "thinning the herd"

I love the a6000 camera. It's a very easy, consumer friendly camera to use. It was the only camera I had for shooting birds along with the 55-210 mm lens and I got some good images from that combo. I wish I had know how good the video was early on but just discovered that. But, and there is always a but, the a6000 did not have the long lenses that I wanted for birds. Then the Panasonic Leica 100-400 mm lens came out and it was kind of within budget and within weight for me to handle. So I went for that combination. I like the Gx8 touch screen and focus. And the video I get from it is excellent. It's also weather resistant and since I spend half my year in Oregon that's important. I also have a Pentax with a 300 mm lens for backup. And the Pentax is my landscape camera so I really am covered.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Much like Suntouched, I sort of drifted into the GX-8, and then found myself rarely picking up the Sony. I suppose the main difference is the choice of and practicality of lenses, but the image quality and sharpness is (in my amateur view) every bit as good and I actually think better than the Sony.

I bought the GX-8 in order to also get a long lens (in my case the 100-300) for a cruise in Alaska. With the 2.0 crop, that is 600mm of reach. I then bought an Olympus wide angle zoom (9-18) for the same trip. when I got home, I continued to shoot with the GX-8 for those distances, but the a6000 for day to day. Then, in looking to get a lens that would cover greater range than the Sony kit lenses, the Sony offerings did not look nearly as appealing as the Panasonc 14-140, which also had fabulous reviews. I bought it, and the picture quality and sharpness is spectacular. And, of course, I don't have to switch lenses.

That left little reason to use the Sony, even though it is a fine camera. I just like everything about the Panasonic....the feel, the ease of switching settings, the touchscreen, the small weight and size (it is slightly bigger than the a6000, but both so much lighter and less bulky than my Older Nikon).

Hope all that helps.
