On Dec 9th and 10th I had an opportunity to go to Mesa Verde to view the night lighting of two dwellings, Cliff Palace and Spruce Tree House. The lighting was to show what they might have looked like if inhabited. The first 5 photos are of Cliff Palace. There photographers everywhere. It was difficult to find a fairly clear view of the dwelling. My photos have some branches in the foreground however there was a Ranger watching everyone and wouldn't let me clear a few branches. The lighting for Cliff Palace was very bright and I am still learning night photography so they may be slightly over exposed and slightly out of focus. The photos of Spruce Tree House came out a bit better. See, I can learn.
The next 4 are of Spruce Tree House and were not as brightly lit. I was fortunate enough to get a better location the second night. As I understand, they light Spruce Tree every year but Cliff Palace is lit only occasionally. The last photo shows the paper bags with sand and candles lighting all of the roadways and walkways.
C & C always welcome.

Thank you, very much..I wasn't sure how they turn out.
Very well done, We've been there several time but never at night.
Wonderful images, stinger! Something I'd love to see!
Thank you all for viewing and the kind comments. Mesa Verde is an amazing place, I'm fascinated by the cultures represented there. The night viewing was really something to see.
