I am hoping to stop by Niagra Falls around Nov. 19 or 20, on the way home from New Hampshire. I will be pulling a 37ft 5th wheel RV trailer. I was wondering 1) of any campgrounds close that might still be open? & 2) Recommendations on viewing the Falls?

I thank you for any and all input.
Have a good day,
Tim Kuelker

I hope you have your passport, as the best views of the falls are from the Canadaian side

The fun side is the American Side. You can walk right up to Bridal Veil ( or in good weather, walk under it) . The brink of the Canadians are experienced best on the American Side IMHO. I've shot a lot of great photos on the American Side. The Canadian will provide the typical Tourist photo, though. Call the New York State Parks Depatment to locate a camp ground close by.

The Canadian side also has a wonderful botanical garden not far from the falls.

There is a campground on the American side about halfway across Grand Island, NY but I do not know if it is open year round. It is not far from the Falls.
There has been some road construction on the American side as you get near the Falls.

There is plenty to see on either side. On the American side from Goat Island you can get right up next to the Falls. There are rapids and rainbows. Some of the site seeing opportunities may be closed this time of year. The Maid of the Mist is in storage for the winter. This time of year it is possible to get snowfall. The parks on both sides of the falls offer many photo opportunities when the trees are snow covered. This year has been very warm and I am hoping there will not be any snow for a while but some mornings we have had frost. I am about 45 minutes from the falls but worked for several years in Niagara Falls, New York and the temperatures are similar. Goat Island is a state park on the US side and connects with some smaller islands that offer excellent views.

If you get all the photos you want of the falls, on the Canadian side there is a butterfly center where you can photograph different butterflies in an indoor setting. The ride to Niagara on the Lake on the Canadian side is along a parkway and the town is charming with many small shops.

Late fall is not necessarily the best time to visit the falls. Summer or Winter are the two optimal times in my opinion. That said there are still plenty of opportunities for photos at the falls and along the gorge.

Niagara Falls! Slowly I turned! Step by step......!

Let's see how many remember!

Made one visit to the falls. Stayed on the Canadian side. Lots to do. We had a lot of fun and great views.

I recall my first driving trip to the falls some 35 years ago ---- no need for passport in those days! I stopped for gas in Canada and thought --- gee, their gas is cheap here (I think it was maybe .95 in the US). When I began filling up and noticed the price on the pump climbing to a high number, I realized the price shown was per liter, not gallon!
