Earlier this week I visited Thornton le Dale in North Yorkshire, my main reason for this was too see the most photographed cottage in the UK, which apparently is mostly used on chocolate tins and boxes etc. Here is a small selection of the shots I took while on my visit.

Excellent set John, beautiful area.
Beautiful shots, John. I can see why it's the most photographed cottage - great detail.

Very nice. I wonder if the owners of the house get paid for the use of the image.
Thanks Sylvian, as you come from round there you must know it quite well.

Certainly do John there are many pretty villages in North Yorkshire.
Excellent shots; it's easy to see why Beck Isle Cottage is the most photographed cottage in the UK.

Lovely shot of Beck Isle Cottage, but I'm curious as to where the 'most photographed' tag comes from. I only ask because I was at Arlington Row, Bibury the other week. These buildings where so popular with artists that The Royal Society of Artists bought them in 1929!
Myself, I always liked the cottage on the A35, just outside of Lyndhurst opposite the Cricket Ground, also seen on a lot of Chocolate box lids / jigsaws.
I suspect there's lots of 'most photgraphed' cottages around but let's not let that detract from a lovely set of images.
Beautiful shots. England is a great place for photography, both urban and country.

I agree, I suspect it's a local "to Thornton" thing, I bet the residents of the cottage may well get rather fed up of tourists staring at their home.
I also know there are plenty of other places like this one in England.
In reality this cottage is quite a long way from a road so when I was there last Monday although there were stacks of visitors in the town, I was the only person made the effort to to get right up to it.
Enjoyed your photos. And thanks for sharing.
