Good Morning Everyone! I am new to posting on this site, but not new to reading it. I am a retired nurse who loves to take pictures of flowers and birds and somethings outside. I don't feel like I understand everything about my camera Nikon D3000, so decided to join your group for help. I will post some pics I took last week and give it a try! Thanks, for any help.
Welcome to the forum. My 2 cents worth of input on your photo; the beautiful Blue Jay is not in focus but the structure in front of it is. Either go for more depth of field or use a specific focus point when photographing subjects like stationary birds.
Thank you !! I was just trying to get a shot of him thought all was in cocus

Welcome to the forum. With birds, always try to focus on the eye. You'll get it. Not bad for a first post.
Thanks for the advice!! Have lots of them, but they don't stay put for long!!
Welcome and glad that you finally chose to join us!!!!!!!!

Welcome to UHH.
For better help in understanding your camera and what it can do, consider the books: Mastering The Nikon D3000" by Darrell Young and/or "David Busch's Nikon D3000 Guide To Digital SLR Photography". Both give better and more in depth explanations than the manual that comes with the camera.
Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us!
I downloaded and checked your camera settings, but did not find any? It appears that you needed to close down the f stop to f 11 so the DOF (depth of field) would be wider. The rail in front of the bird is sharp, but not the bird. Most cause is people using ISO 100. This is not needed. You can set to ISO 800, 1600, 3200 to fix this. Welcome to the Hog. David
Welcome to the UHH Roadrunner, enjoy.
