A fellow member "robbiedoug" wondered if I could take some photos of Helmsley, a small market town in North Yorkshire here in the UK, it seem his ancestors came from there.
I was able to pay a visit earlier this week and take a few photographs, so I will attach a few examples to this post.
Considering it was a Monday morning in mid October it was crowded with visitors and their cars, so you will need ignore them and try to image how it used to be.

Very nice set, a classic old English town.

Thanks, made my day.
Very attractive shots of a quaint village. Well done.
Smashing shots, Iv called in there many times. The castle gardens are well worth a visit as is the bird center that's close by.

Wow! do those shots bring back memories. My wife and I honeymooned in the UK back in 1974. We were on a self guided driving tour. We stayed at the Black Swan! I have some of the same shots (color slides scanned to jpg. Shot Kodachrome II). Was part of the Trust House chain. Would love to get back to the UK. Driving on the left, and shifting with the left hand took some getting used to. Really loved the UK. Everyone so friendly. Saw a lot of the UK, including Stonehenge which was awesome. till married to the same wonderful woman.
P.S. I developed a taste for English beer in the UK, Bass Ale in particular.
Here are the ones I took back in July 1974 on my honeymoon. Kodachrome II scanned to jpg. Hotel hasn't changed much in 42 years.

Hi Ken, your photos taken all those years ago are really fascinating, just proves how little has changed except for the cars.
Thanks for posting them,
John.
Excellent set - tack sharp and great colours.

Great shots Ken, nice to see all those old cars again. They all appear to be brand new.
