I recently spent the weekend in Whitby, a North Yorkshire seaside town with a small fishing industry.
Whitby is also well know for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which has several steam engines and rolling stock which have been restored and are currently used daily on a regular timetable.
The trains go from Whitby to Pickering, it takes about 2 hours a passes through some very spectacular scenery and stops at most of the stations on the way other stations will stop on request.
Here are a small selection of some photographs which I took on the train ride I went on from Whitby to Pickering.
It's worth downloading for better viewing.
Unfortunately the photos have not uploaded in the correct order but the titles explain the time line.

Great Set. Makes me want to visit.
I want to take the ride. You should work for the Chamber of Commerce.
Nice series of photos. I enjoyed seeing them.
Hi Bill, thanks for your comment, there is a station on this line at Goatland which was used in the Hogwarts film.
I love the way you folks in the UK hang on to your history and better yet share it freely.
I love pictures of trains, especially with steam driven engines. Great downloads!!!!!!!
Smashing shots John, a lot less folks about from when I was there when the Flying Scotsman was there earlier in the year.
