Does anyone know about a Leica Digital camera with a 25-600mm lens? It is advertised in a Herrington Magazine, gifts ect. The camera weighs 1.5 lbs. According to the description, it has everything you could want on a camera. There was a number to call and I called and asked some questions.

Not I - but mostly there are a whole lot more things I have not heard of then the few I have. In this case I would be very careful as I find in very hard that any camera has everything that anyine would want in a camera. First there has to be trade offs. A 25-600mm range is very extreme focal lengths. How large of a processor chip does it have. Can you add filters to what must be a fixed lens? Even though it has the Leica brand on it - does that mean it is the same high quality glass they are known for? I have seen Herringtons catalogs before - they seem to carry mostly gee-whiz, or they would prefer to say cutting edge products. I have hit my head enough times to be very leery about anything that claims to be way out in front of the herd. On the otherhand I would like to hear if you get one or receive any further imput. I did not hear about such wide rang zoom but (German) Leica and also Carl-Zeiss lenses usually are narrow range zoom as they offer high quality images with each lens that they make
As a Leica guy and while I have not seen this camera, I would be a bit suspect. It may be a Japanese collaboration or maybe not.

That S2 is of course Leica at their best. Very expensive and wonderful optics. Not sure about such a big zoom but worth checking out if one has the funds.
The Panasonic fz100 25x600 has a leica lens.It is a great camera and none of the other super zooms come close.I especially like the slow motion vidios on youtube taken with this camera
This Leica like Panasonic FZ100 ,almost the same features and the same zoom lens.
Sounds like a pretty neat camera. The Leica/Panasonic collaboration has produced some very nine kits for decent pricing. I have the L-1
It produces real great images. I think a 25-600mm lens may be fun and convenient but cannot be certain about having than Leica famous look.
