Hard to believe this park is in the middle of the city right next to Buckingham Palace. I wish we could have spent more time there. Couldn't resist taking shots as we walked through. Also enjoyed the editing and experimenting with different looks.

No wonder they call it London Green Park

Is that a grove oaks, or other trees, planted, grown & tended over the ages to be harvested to build wooden ships for the Royal Navy?

Not that I was aware. I read history mentions a burial ground for Lepers in 16th century. Also known as a dueling ground in 18th century. No mention of wood for building ships. Thanks for checking them out.

Very nice set. Let's face it they had to put a park in there so the Royal family had a good view. The trees have been there a while, beautiful park.

I thought they might have have been Plane trees until I checked out the download. Got this from the Royal Parks page,

Trees in The Green Park primarily consist of plane and lime. Both are of great benefit to the surrounding area. As well as providing a cooler microclimate in hot summers, they can actually help improve air quality by absorbing vehicle fumes and filtering out harmful pollutants.

Trees in Green Park

A number of more unusual trees can also be found in the Park including the black poplar (Britain's rarest native timber tree, recognisable by its gnarled trunk), silver maples (distinguished by their finely cut silvery leaves) and silver limes (which have leaves that are a silvery white underneath). There are also some native oaks and hawthorn- a tree that supports a lot of wildlife with its rich blossom providing nectar for insects in the spring and its berries proving food for birds in the autumn.

Absolutely true. We did walk through a number of them. This one was close to our hotel so we went through a couple of times. Loved it! Thanks!

Thanks Linda. Loved the city. Wish we had more than 5 days. My goal was to take some after dark shots but our schedule was so busy I missed it. Next time!

Thanks for the info. This park has been there a very long time and has quite a history. We really enjoyed all of London! Way too much to see and do in 5 days. Loved photographing as much as I could.

Thanks. Very true. The busses and underground were very efficient as well.
