I took these pictures several weeks ago, but just now posting them. The pictures were taken at the rail yard at Kirby, Texas using my Sony NEX-6 camera and a vintage Sigma 28-84mm F3.5 lens at following settings: F8, ISO 200, manual focus, Manual Mode, no tripod. Tejaswrangler :)

Very nice images tejaswrangler. I think the grafitti on rail cars is often quite good and photogenic.

Love me some rail pictures. I agree with Jack, some graffiti can be very artsy and photogenic. Cheers.

Some, actually quite a few, years ago I was a Purchasing Agent Domino Sugar, and one of my responsibilities was for railroad car, mostly tank car, maintenance. Their owned tank cars were always painted white with a BIG oval at the left end that encircled the words "Domino Sugar"; the sign was a decal for the tank cars and hand painted on hopper type cars which had a corrugated type exterior.

The cars really looked nice and were repainted about every five - seven years as they got looking worn and dirty or involved in a wreck and had to go into the shops for repair and repainting. About the time I resigned, the decision was made to stop identifying the cars except for the ASRX code & number. ASRX was the Railroad code for American Sugar Refining Company--the original company name. The problem was that whenever a car was involved in a wreck, the Domino Oval and text offered a perfect spot for all the Press and TV photographers to focus upon, and although the sugar cars had no connection with the wreck except being part of the train, the Oval became prominently featured in the news; that led to guilt by association which the company decided to avoid. We also repainted the cars if they got loaded with graffiti, well done or not, but I don't recall graffiti being a big problem unlike today when it seems to cover every smooth and unprotected surface.

Beautiful...love that Union Pacific paint scheme. Wish we had them in this area. Instead we have super boring CSX blue engines. Great job on the photo.
