I have seen a photo, I believe, of the Dynax 9 version, that does NOT have a rubber eye cup over the finder and I was advised that it never did have one. Do any of you know for sure if this is the case? Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I have a Minolta Maxxum 9 in my hand. Someone GAVE it to me after I bought all his old A-Mount lenses. It has a hard rubber "U" shaped eye rest that slips over the viewfinder. When this rubber eye rest in removed a tiny lever is exposed that controls an internal light block in the viewfinder. There is nothing that I would call an eye cup that would fit snugly around the eye.
I have never used this camera so please forgive my ignorance.
Edit ###############
I just looked the Dynax 9 up on the Internet. It looks a lot like the one I have except mine says Maxxum the word Dynax is printed on others. I'm curious what the difference is?

Every photo of the Dynax 9 on Google Images show a configuration the same as this. >Alan

The "Maxxum" that I have in my hand is similar but different.
I had no idea that people were paying this much!
Again, while there are at least three names, Maxxum, Dynax, and Alpha, I am asking specifically about the Dynax version. I did see on a German web site a Dynax, (not Maxxum or Alpha) that did not have the rubber cover, nor, from the photo did it seem like there was a place to put one. So, specifically, the Dynax version. Just this one. Thanks.

Some people put crazy prices on their stuff. Check some of the other ads. I'm sure you'll see a different story.
35mm film cameras are worth chump change now. Which Maxxum model are you asking about? I own several. >Alan
Hi. I am not asking about any Maxxum model. I am asking specifically about the Dynax model. Does it differ from the Maxxum model in that there is no accommodation for a rubber eye piece cover.
Maxxum 9, Dynax 9, & Alpha 9 are all the same model. Sold in different parts of the world. Maxxum was the name here in the US. Dynax I believe was the European name. Alpha for the Asian market.

Thank you. I have been confused about that for a long time.

I have 2 Maxxum 7s. Paperweights now.
And there was yet another Minolta 9... the 9ti. Yep, it had a titanium skin... That's the one that's a true collectible. Were all weatherproofed. The model was a professional-class 35mm camera.

The photos I found of the Maxxum had no rubber gizmo on the viewfinder nor any apparent way to attach one,
other than Gorilla Glue. That stuff will hold ANYTHING.
Do you have a photo of the viewfinder area? Perhaps, something is broken there...

good going! you sorted it out correctly. in either configuration, excellent all weather camera bodies. having used both variants, the maxxum 9 and the dynax 9 in blizzards, hurricanes and other fun moments at the shore, they've always held up wonderfully.
Ok, wj cody. Did your Dynax 9 have the rubber in front of the eye piece? Thanks.
