Was there last week, beautiful country and city, along with Dubuque, IA. Came back home a few days ago with this image and seven staples in my leg, getting the staples removed tomorrow.

Thanks Wayne. I kind of doubt it, I imagine the owner just found some nice old signs.

Thanks James. This was outside of town a few miles, I doubt very much it was ever a real Sears store. I have one more of a dilapidated stone building I might post later.

Thanks Carol. I normally do b/w but am struggling with trying to learn how to make decent color images. I have a full frame camera now that allows me to expose for the skies and bring up the dark areas without noise, eliminating the need for HDR. The images still have a little HDRish look that I try to not overdo.

I think you achieved a very nice look. I wondered if it was HDR but the look was subtle and relatively natural so I wasn't sure.

I stop by that place every trip I make to Galena and get some shots of the place, but they never come out as well as the shot you just posted ;-). In case anyone wants to visit this place, it is located on Blackjack Just South of Galena.

Nicely composed, with interesting details. The processing fits the subject well. Appealing shot! (and owie on the staples, eh?)

Thanks mebert. I would have loved to go in but the place was padlocked. There's a trailer house in the back but I don't know if anyone is living there. I am wondering if it might be a Halloween spook house. There was a lot of Halloween decorations around the place.

I have another image taken on Blackjack a little closer to town of a dilapidated stone building that I plan to post a little later today. I've been to Dubuque before but this was my first visit to Galena.

Kohlers Trading Post used to be in Lombard Illinois. It was a junkyard. Been closed for at least 30 years. I wonder how the sign got to Galena.
