Nice Shots
Not to criticise but try later in the day or earlier I suppose, you will get much better colour and definition in your shots, these are the type of shot I used to take allot of in full sun, the other evening I went out into my garden and took some shots when the sun was just about to go over the horizon, ie "the Golden Hour", well wow what a difference it makes
try and see how you get on

Thanks for your post. I am very aware of the "golden hour" of which you speak. However for me, time is of essence. I cannot always be at a prime place when I would like, therefore it is do it "now" or not at all.

You really made the light work for you in #1 which is my favorite because of that. I shoot alot of florals and you have some beauties---keep em coming. The bloom is just starting here in Mn if the wind ever stops. Going out to shoot some iris this afternoon if the sun cooperates......

Hoping you get sOme good color? Our wind has been troublesome also, especially with tornadoes. Good luck with the iris.

You did pretty well with the exposure on the reds, which I tend to over-expose. Are you using compensation, or have you not had that issue with your equipment?

My early morning shots are always better. The light is softer, especially if I focus up under, the light kinda' glows down thru the petals.

Not sure what you mean by compensation(exposure?). I almost always shoot what the meter says. After downloading to iPhoto I do most of my "post" processing in iPhoto. Can do exposure adjustment, and most of the other things that can be done with more complex software. I rarely use Photoshop.lf I have not answered your question please post again.
