Canon 5D Mark IV does it work with photoshop CS6 (and any other suggestions you want to give!)

I thought I made a firm decision today to upgrade from my Canon 60D to the Canon 5D Mark IV but my head is swimming trying to decide on lenses etc. Currently I have a Sigma EX 10-20mm; Canon EF 100mm 2.8L both of which I love, but find myself going back to the kit lens that came with my camera (Canon EF S 18-200 mm 3.5-5.6) which really needs to be replaced.

If that's not enough to worry about I started wondering if my Photoshop CS6 will work with this camera. I really didn't want to switch to Photoshop CC (please, no hate for that- I know it might not seem logical...).

So, will CS6 work?
If you want to throw in a suggestion for lenses I would be happy to listen!

The 5d Mk 4 works with Photoshop Elements 12 provided you are shooting jpeg. RAW files will not open in Elements. It will open RAW with CC, but I am not sure about 6. Windows Photo viewer will also not open RAW files from the mark 4. I called Microsoft about this and was told that they do not have a Codec Pack for it yet.

I got the mark 4 a couple of weeks ago and am really liking it. I have a 24-70 f2.8 and a 70-200 f2.8 that work well, but I am considering a 24-105 f4 II for a walk around lens. It will be available Oct. 31 Your EF-S lens will not work on the Mark 4.

Hope this helps.

This PS compatibility issue has been discussed repeatedly on this Forum. Go to Search at the top of this page and search on (for example) "Photoshop 6 compatible cameras". The lens issue is personal to you - you've been using your lenses - DECIDE about any changes you need/want to make. Have a great day. Best regards, Ralph

You will need ACR 9.7 or DNG converter 9.7 I think. Both support the 5D IV except for dual pixel raw. You need Canon DPP v 4.5 for that. So it may not be exactly the same as your old workflow, but there are ways of doing it. Canon DPP v4.5 will handle all of the 5D mk IV functions and also has an option to hand off to Photoshop in the tools menu. No reason not to get the 5D IV if you are willing to adapt a little.

Good luck

The 5D is a full frame camera. Your EF-S lenses get sold along with your 60D (both the Sigma and the 18-200). I'd get the 5D IV with the new 24-105L II as a kit and worry about more lenses later. It's going to be a while before 3rd party software can deal with the new dual-pixel RAW from the 5D IV.

This is what I would have done if I had had the patience to wait until Oct. 31 for the lens release, but I am getting ready to order it.

You have a problem with Halloween? It might get delivered by broomstick!

Broomstick, drone, pony express, I don't care as long as it's here safe and sound. :).

Get Photoshop CC/Lightroom CC and stop asking about whether a brand new camera will work with 5 yr old software. Seriously, if you can afford $3500 you can certainly afford $10/mo for decent, up-to-date software. You now have all the justification you need to do this. And no logical reason not to.

Thank you everyone for your kind and thoughtful responses. I really do appreciate those who take the time to help others out.
Just FYI, (as a matter of pride) I don't want anyone to think that I didn't know that my 2 lenses wouldn't work. It was just an example of what I like as a guide to any lens suggestions.
Thank you again.
