I will be taking pictures for 50th HS reunion. I currently have a Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 & a Nikon 50mm f/1.8. I am considering a Tokina 35mm, f/2.8. This interest stems from Ken Rockwell review as well as the 5 star rating on this item at B&h (38 reviews) I will be using Nikon D80 as my recent quest for a newer camera has been placed on hold due to pending dental surgery :?
Does anyone have an experience with this lens? I've never ventured outside of Nikkor lennses before.

Hi, Hoosier - there were a number of threads on the Hog regarding Tokina lenses. May prove helpful. Sorry you have to have dental surgery (ouch!). Maybe a new lens might be a nice diversion. Have found many of the reviews by fellow Hogs to be very useful and informative.

I would consider buying a zoom lens in the 18-105mm range. You already have a really fast 50mm and you aren't going to lose or gain much in focal length with the Tokina.
Good luck with your dental surgery.

I have the 18-70 & 70-300vr as is. Thinking the 35mm could be used for macro also. Thanks for the best wishes!
you need a Tamron OFL....
(old fart lens...)
i'm with paulosee, the 50mm is good. if you need a wider angle, use the zoom and up the iso.
