The Dark Night of the Soul
I like it, different, well executed lighting and post. Film grain effect? Tad dark in post, perhaps... but then again, the more I look the more face I see and I have found the UHH upload does effect the photo. How about some details on how you achieved this shot/lighting/post.

There was one light with a 7" reflector with barn doors. ISO 100
I edited this in lightroom. Converted to high contrast black and white, and wanted a lot of grain.
This is what I had in mind when I edited this: I have known her for several years and am friends with her older half sister. They have the same father, who died when she was a child and then her mother abandoned her. Not sure at what age all that happened. But later she dropped out of Jr Hi and went to Florida where she was homeless. She returned to MO, her half sister received custody. She eventually graduated from High School.
She is right at 6' tall, attractive, manipulative, intelligent, arrested for assault and was in jail for several days. She is fun to spend time with but has a nasty streak that you don't want to trigger.
editing:
There is a lot of darkness and sadness in her life, so I went for a very dark look. I think her life has been shattered by circumstances so I went for a lot of grain to represent that. She uses her body, looks, and sexuality to manipulate people so I lit up her chest. I shot from a high angle to show some vulnerability.

After reading your description of the basis of photo it brings out more sense to what at first appears an ominous pic. Thanks
Outstanding image. What you had in your mind to create an image of her matches very well. Perfect execution!

I wish i could put a persons story together as you did and then create an image to reflect that story/ life of the individual.
It was great before I read the story and really great after I read it. Great work.
You are an amazing person.

I have been reading your comments on my posts. It appears you appreciate my artistic concepts. Did you notice her eyes? They are the window to her soul. Yet they appear to be gouged out. What do you make of that Stan?
Maybe it's just me but I have no idea what I am looking at
It's too dark for me--I can't find her eyes at all. Nice idea, though.
Yes, I admire your creativity and ability to execute an image that you have in your mind. Yes I noticed she has no eyes. No vision to the world or she lost it.

After some study and with your explanation,I can certainly appreciate what you are striving for and believe you've achieved it. A haunting image.
Makes you want more. Good job.

not exactly, it is deeper than that and more personal to her
I'm assuming that the UHH upload did something to this, or the site treats pictures differently for different devices (I usually read these threads on my phone). I can't make out anything besides black in the face. Maybe we'd get more detail if you saved the download for us?
Reading your description makes me want to study the picture more - I love the concept.
