Not sure what you saw, but barrel distortion refers to lense, not bodies unless you know something I don't.

It applies to a list of lenses which fall under this firmware.

Again, what firmware are you referring to? For what/which bodies? Sorry, I'm just not seeing anything on the Nikon firmware site.

Distortion Control Data

Loaded into compatible cameras, distortion control data reduce barrel and pincushion distortion when photographs are taken or edited.

Version 2015 was released in August Check on the Nikon site under firmware for your camera

Go to Nikonusa.com. Look at links which will direct you to firmware updates, then find your camera, look at the latest firmware updates for your camera, then look at what the latest firmware is on YOUR camera, if it needs to updated, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE WEB SITE. Yes, Virginia, it is that easy.

If I read the update correctly it modifies the list and characteristics for lenses to be used on your camera. I am concerned that non-Nikon lenses might suffer from this update. There does not seem to be much info regarding that.
Of course in PP you can do your own lens correction.

The correction will only be applied to the Nikon branded lenses it is written for. Software lens corrections for aftermarket(not NIKON) lenses has to come from the lens maker.

love going to India. been many times. Last time was to the north; a first for me. also went to Nepal. A split between historical sites and wildlife photography in India. Nepal, all wildlife.

Never been sick in India (knock on wood). It does take some getting used to but it is a fascinating place and love visiting. Heartbreaking to see such squalor. Air quality bad, but amazing and fascinating. Love going there. This las trip was 2 wks India and 2 wks in Nepal. Would encourage a visit.

Wish that every middle school in the US would make a trip to India mandatory. Then kids in this country would appreciate what they have!

Before traveling anywhere out of the ordinary I always consult with our HMO's travel nurse to ensure i am up to date on vaccinations and prepared for whatever. This time we were spending a lot of time in the jungles and took anti-malaria meds.

Read CDC bulletins on traveling to India so you know how to stay healthy while traveling. Avoid: ice, tap water (even for brushing teeth, fresh veggies such as lettuce that may have been rinsed with bad water, peel fruits, etc. etc. Eat a better hotels and restaurants. Organize through a reputable India tour agency. they'll want to keep you healthy and safe for guide tips, repeat business and referrals.
Go and enjoy.
