This image was heavily Photoshoped to minimize the glare of the Sun and Fog, and to enhance the details of the terrain. This is where the San Andreas fault runs out to sea in its journey through California. You can see how the spreading zone has stretched the rocks into "fingers" which have been heavily eroded by the tides. Nikon D7100, Nikno 10.5 mm lens 1/400 @ f/9.0 ISO 100

Excellent ! ! !

I'm not sure if this photo I found online is the same location as yours, zoomed out, but if it is, yours is a much more interesting perspective:

Interesting.

I once ate lunch in (dry) Wallace Creek where it crosses the San Andreas Fault near the Carrizo Plain. Also a friend once rented a home at Lake Elizabeth, L.A. Co. with the San Andreas running by yards away. Weird cracks in the pavement and no homes built on the fault itself.

I am surprised not to see more land raised up in the area from the fault . I guess that doesn't always happen along the faults .

My goodness - - what a small world. We had a weekend house in Green Valley, CA (in the valley below Jupiter Mountain) and belonged to the Elizabeth Lake Ranch Club. I learned to drive to and from Palmdale on Lake Hughes Road. You can see the San Andreas indentation most places along that route - - with very tall trees rooted in the indentation, and you barely see the tops protruding over the depth of the fissure.

I have found this very interesting reading and has whetted my appetite to learn more .
I am also wondering are all these observations negative or positive for the people living close to the vault

Is it true that Californians believe that after the BIG QUAKE, everything east of the fault will fall into the Atlantic?

Joke, right ???

NO, however there are some unfortunates who believe that everything West of the fault line will fall into the Pacific, and the desert where I live will become ocean front property - - they saw in the Superman movie so it must be true ! ! !

Definitely a joke, but thanks for giving us the truth of the matter.

No West, so I'll finally have beach front property.
