I just purchased a refurbished Nikon D 7100. It came without a screen protector. After doing some research, I found that Nikon does not make a snap-on protector for the 7100. Anyone have any recommendations for a good protector for this camera that will not damage the screen ? I would appreciate any help I can get from D 7100 owners !!!

The larger 3.2 inch LCD does not allow enough room for the old style snap-on covers. I use and recommend the GGS Glass Screen protectors, they glue on so your screen needs to be VERY clean before applying and the clarity is WORLDS better than the old plastic covers.

Get one of the hardened glass ones specifically for the D7100. You'll never need another.

I used this optical glass screen protector for my D7100; made by Vello, sold by B&H Photovideo. It attaches by "static adhesion"which means you can reposition or remove it easily. It has never fallen off, or given me any trouble. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883535-REG/vello_gspu_nd800_screen_protector_ultra_for.html. I like it a lot more than the plastic protector that Nikon shipped with my D300.

I agree wholeheartedly, I have had one of these on both the rear screen and the top screen, absolutely the best!

Look for one made by Zagg - very durable, with a lifetime guarantee. If they don't make one for the D7100, get a larger on and cut it.

The first thing I did when I purchased my D700 and, later, D800e was toss the plastic snap on protector and purchased something similar to this.

Want to thank everybody for your recommendations!! I contacted Nikon about this, and they said they have nothing for the D7100. Don't know why they did that, maybe it would be to their advantage to make one. Anyway, I ordered an optical glass cover for the screen last night. Will see how it works out. Thanks again for your time and recommendations!!!!

Go to B&H, search for the following:

Glass LCD Screen Protector for Nikon D7100

It'll come back with 5 of them (also, same screen as the D7200... Same results as the D7100)...

You could also try adorama (only three of them there).

Pretty sure none of the FX bodies have the snap-on screen protectors, either.

I bought a “ProMaster” one for my refurb D7100. About $15. Probably could have gotten it for less on Amazon, but the local shop put it on for me so I didn’t care. I believe it’s acrylic, not glass, but I can’t tell the difference. It’s great.

I have used my D7100 since shortly after they came on the market. It is used at least once a week, shutter count over 50,000 when I checked it this Spring. Just looked at back screen. Only problem is coating of body grease I constantly am wiping off. NO visible scratches.

Why cut visibility with another layer of material?
I lost back screen cover off of D300 after using it a couple of years. Good riddance to a bad idea.
I have never had the screen on a digital camera become obviously damaged; most cameras become obsolete long before then.
Still use the D300 when pixels don't count.
